SkyPro Swing Analyzer
SkyPro is a new way to improve your golf swing or putting stroke. It is a small sensor that fits just below your grip and monitors your club's motion during a swing or putt. This information is then transmitted wirelessly to your smartphone or tablet, which provides instant feedback on key features of your swing or putt. View your swing or putt from any angle, compare it to a favorite or use the checkpoint system. SkyPro has many tools to help your find flaws in your swing or confirm what you are doing correctly. The end result is a thorough, but understandable analysis. Make practice meaningful, and have more fun too, with SkyPro!
Skypro Features Swing
Attack angle measures whether your club head is moving up or down on the golf ball at impact. It is defined as the angle between the ground and the direction your clubhead is moving.
Overlay your favorite swing to another swing, compare positions and see exactly what changed so you can improve. Compare mode is perfect for when you are working on your swing to show your progress.
Shaft angle at address shows your shaft position at impact. Are you hands behind the ball or do you have a forward angle at impact. Work on compressing the golf ball with a correct angle at impact.
Face Angle Top
This parameter measures your face angle at the top of the backswing. It is measured in degrees below horizontal. Is your face open or shut at the top of your swing or in the position you desire.
This parameter measures how on-plane your club is at the top of the backswing. An inside shaft direction at the top indicates crossing-the-line, while an outside value suggest a laid-off-club.
This parameter measures how far back you take your club. Higher numbers reflect a longer backswing. Great tool for when you are working on your wedges or hitting different distances.
SkyPro gives you a 360 degree view of your swing and allows you to zoom in at any point. See exactly what the club head is doing during your golf swing.
Select a parameter your want to work on, the dispersion of accuracy and start hitting shots. Hit 10 shots in a row perfect and move on to the next level. A great way to practice and receive real time feedback.
Skypro Features Putting
See exactly what your putter head is doing during the stroke. Is the path on an arc or straight back and through. See your putting stroke from any angle and zoom in to see how the head rotates through the stroke.
Face On Look
This view allows you to see where your hands are at address and impact. The goal is to match the two up so you make solid contact. If your hands are at 3 degrees at address you want them to return at 3 degrees at impact.
The ability to rotate your view allows you to better understand what your putting stroke looks like. Front view allows you to see your compete back stroke and your putter head at impact.
Another great way to see what your putting stroke looks like with zoom mode. See that you are keeping the putter square at impact or if it is twisting. Zoom allows you to see the subtle movements of the putter head.

***How does it work?***
The device attaches to your club, just underneath the grip. It is small and lightweight, and it won't distract you during the swing. After every swing, you can review the 3D path of your club as well as a bunch of numbers related to your swing at certain positions (address, halfway back, top, halfway down, impact). There is a lot of info to digest!
Here are a list of the parameters:
Top of Backswing
-Backswing length (degrees)
-Shaft Angle (relative to the ground)
-Angle of Attack
-Face Angle (FOR PUTTING ONLY)
What is missing from these parameters is face angle at impact for a full swing. The creators decided not to include it because the device is not sensitive/accurate enough to report a value with high confidence, so they decided to not report it at all. In fact, any accelerometer/gyro type of device that does report it should probably not be trusted.
***What the device taught ME***
-I tend to take the club back on the outside: easy fix
-I have a loopty-loop at the top of my backswing due to coming across the line: hard but not impossible to fix
-My club is too open at halfway down: super hard for me to fix
-I come in too far from the inside at halfway down: super hard to fix
What I noticed after using the device at the range is: I ALWAYS REPEAT MY FAULTS. In fact, even if I exaggerate something to try to get rid of the fault and I feel like I am swinging differently, I tend to repeat the fault anyways.
Thus here is the kicker: the device will tell you what is wrong, but it won't tell you how to fix it. Thus I recommend this device for people that understand the swing (i.e. you visit GolfWRX often) and are self-motivated. Take this info to your pro, would be my suggestion.
The putting mode is awesome. This is the biggest area of my game that I have improved. The skypro told me on average I leave the clubface open 2.5 degrees at impact and I tend to launch the ball with a negative Angle of Attack and a delofted club face(basically into the ground). Just by having this feedback, I have been able to adjust my stroke and now average more around 0.7 degrees at impact and am launching the ball with a positive AoA. This has translated to the course as I have been making more short/medium putts than ever, and usually with much more confidence that I am getting the putt started on line. Putting mode is also great because you can work on putting indoors during winter a lot easier than you can practicing the full swing.
The skypro is an invaluable feedback tool. It gives instantaneous feedback, which is a must for breaking old habits (the old golf cliché "feel isn't real" is a real thing). That being said, it is merely a feedback tool and requires a higher level of golf knowledge to make true improvements and changes to the swing. It will tell you "What" but not the "Why" and as long as you know that, you will find it useful.
I use this in conjunction with Swing Profiler a step video visual swing aide that lets me see what the swing looks like. Sky Pro tells me what the club is doing during the swing. I wish I could add a device that tells you what the ball is doing, but they are very expensive. For me, this was definitely worth the investment.
