Pain-Yatta is a villain (reformed) of the smasher battle class. Using the toy in your game immediately unlocks two benefits: an additional level maximum for your Imaginators and it also unlocks a Pain-Yatta themed ultimate backpack item for your Imaginators to equip. This is the only way to unlock this backpack. Using Pain-Yatta at the smasher Sensei Shrine (located in-game in the Sky Fortress level) unlocks his lollipop smasher weapon which can then be equipped by any Imaginators of the smasher battle class. Again, that is the only way to unlock this weapon.
Pain-Yatta is a fan favorite, and many fans consider him to be the best choice for magic Doom Raider from Trap Team (Trap Team didn't have a magic Doom Raider; I've heard it was meant to be Kaos before he was changed to his own Kaos element). The voice is a little different than Trap Team, with a noticeable Spanish accent. Kind of reminds me of Cheech Marin for those of us old enough to know who that is.
The toy itself is great. It's heavier compared to some other Skylanders figures due to being a large solid piece of plastic. The paint is colorful, but not all decorations are there compared to the in-game model. For example the tooth on the toy isn't painted like a piece of candy corn, and the lollipop on the figure is only red/white rather than multicolored like in the game (although a candy cane is one of his weapons).
Playing as Pain-Yatta is fun, especially for this kids. His primary attack is smashing enemies with lollipops which frequently change shape after breaking. I found this was a nice touch to keep this attack from looking too repetitive. His other attacks involve shooting out a spray of candy from his mouth, and dropping down pinata decoys. Depending on the upgrade path you choose, he can either get a boost to stats after breaking a lollipop which causes a disco ball to drop from the top of the screen or gets an awesome laser beam attack that shoots from his mouth and looks like a red twizzler. My kids said we had to get the laser attack, so we went with that path and we're glad we did.
The magic creation crystal is a mold that has already been released before, so collectors probably already have it. But for only $5 more than finding a single pack Pain-Yatta figure, which as of this review is not available, I was okay with having a duplicate crystal for my kids to use.
