I managed to get my hands on a Kaos trap for my son at the “normal” retail price for the trap after 3 weeks of trying so I figured I’d throw a few tips out there for other parents.

First, Gamestop appears to get a fresh load of Kaos traps in once every 2-3 weeks. You will have to buy a group with 2 other traps to get the Kaos trap but you will pay retail for all 3 traps. I managed to get mine on Monday of last week and I’ve seen on forums that they had another load in 16 days earlier. Based on other messages I’ve seen and my own experience they seem to be placed online around lunch time.

Second, check Best Buy. They will not ship the traps to you but if there is a store close to you with Kaos traps it will allow you to do an in store pick up on the item.

Third, wait until the wave 4 of traps are released. With that release there are 2 triple packs being released that have Kaos traps in them. I haven’t seen a release date for the next batch of traps but you can see pictures of the packs on other websites (search: New Traps Triple Packs revealed for Trap Team).

Good luck, I know it can be frustrating.

Patience and persistence...

This item is good quality for a small piece of plastic, and really enhances the play of Trap Team. It works as described. It is worth $5.99...no more than that. Now for the rest of my review, which was initially rejected by Amazon...not sure why, because it is much like every other review in this list...and actually shows Amazon in a positive light.
After refusing to succomb to the price-gouging thrust upon us by greedy third-parties looking to make an easy buck, I've simply checked Amazon each day since Christmas waiting for a few to be back in stock through Amazon. A week or so ago, patience and persistence paid off, and I paid $5.99 for ONE (just ONE) Kaos Trap to be used by my two sons. (I'm guessing the others were scooped up and are now being sold by third-parties). I waited, they waited, and I learned a very important lesson. Kids will not evaporate into the ether if they do not have instant gratification. Now, what to do with the $65 I DIDN'T give up to the fine folks on Amazon Marketplace???

I am torn between giving this 1 star or 5. Here's the truth:
I HATE THIS GAME!!! Could they add ANY more elements for parents to buy to complete the playing experience. I have to buy traps, and minis, and masters, and regular elements. I don't even want to say that because the next game will undoubtedly require even more elements.
With that being said, these hurt far less to step on than Legos, so that is a plus.
Also, my son loves this trap. I gave it to him for his birthday from his sister and he was over the moon. All of his friends were ooh-ing and ah-ing over it. Some asked if they could touch it. I am not even going to pretend to understand.
This is all I can say, if you also have an 8 year old who has this game and is obsessed with the Skylanders, then your child is going to love this and love you for buying it. I guess that is worth 5 stars.

Not Bad on its Own, but the Prices Add Up...

To fully use all the content available in Trap Team, you will need 8 Trap Masters (large Skylanders with impressive crystal weapons) and 9 Traps (crystal figures used to hold bonus characters). You get 1 Trap Master and 2 Traps from the Starter Pack, so you'll need 7 Masters and 7 Traps (1 from each of the remaining elements). This means you'll be spending about $140 (minimum; estimating $15 per Trap Master and $5 per Trap, not counting any tax or shipping costs). That's a lot of money.
However, that's only if you plan to spend the money on all the content. If you just want an extra Trap to play a few bonus characters, that's fine too. The Air Trap does exactly what it's supposed to do; it holds Air Element villains. Whether you want to spend a few dollars on a single Trap, or you want to go all-in and get everything, this Air Trap is definitely a nice piece.

Although this trap broke about 2 weeks after using it it still works in the system. These, and all sky lander products. seem to be cheaply made but are, in my opinion, outrageously expensive for what they do. First you have to buy the starter pack at upwards of $75. then once your kids play it they need more characters or traps to get somewhere. then it becomes an addiction. they have to get every sky lander for their collection. usually the sky landers products are easy to find. The traps not so much. even walmart only carries 2 at a time. and they are the 2 that come in the starter pack
