I am torn between giving this 1 star or 5. Here's the truth:
I HATE THIS GAME!!! Could they add ANY more elements for parents to buy to complete the playing experience. I have to buy traps, and minis, and masters, and regular elements. I don't even want to say that because the next game will undoubtedly require even more elements.
With that being said, these hurt far less to step on than Legos, so that is a plus.
Also, my son loves this trap. I gave it to him for his birthday from his sister and he was over the moon. All of his friends were ooh-ing and ah-ing over it. Some asked if they could touch it. I am not even going to pretend to understand.
This is all I can say, if you also have an 8 year old who has this game and is obsessed with the Skylanders, then your child is going to love this and love you for buying it. I guess that is worth 5 stars.

To fully use all the content available in Trap Team, you will need 8 Trap Masters (large Skylanders with impressive crystal weapons) and 9 Traps (crystal figures used to hold bonus characters). You get 1 Trap Master and 2 Traps from the Starter Pack, so you'll need 7 Masters and 7 Traps (1 from each of the remaining elements). This means you'll be spending about $140 (minimum; estimating $15 per Trap Master and $5 per Trap, not counting any tax or shipping costs). That's a lot of money.
However, that's only if you plan to spend the money on all the content. If you just want an extra Trap to play a few bonus characters, that's fine too. The Air Trap does exactly what it's supposed to do; it holds Air Element villains. Whether you want to spend a few dollars on a single Trap, or you want to go all-in and get everything, this Air Trap is definitely a nice piece.

Skylanders has a really good marketing plan going on.

Once my son started playing the games, he started wanting every type of Skylander and trap. I believe these only work with the Trap Team release. In that release they are critical to playing longer. Each trap can hold a villain. Once trapped players can use the villains to fight. This is a good way for them to continue if the hero losses too much life.

Villains are not given health, but rather timers, and damage removes extra time. Once the player switches back the the hero, the villain's timer starts to recover.

I recommend these traps for the Trap Team player.

The toy looks okay, but we won't know until Christmas if it works okay. I'm giving it a lower rating because it had obviously been torn open and taped back together. The plastic over the toy has a jagged cut across the top. We were planning to use this as a stocking stuffer from Santa, but obviously won't be able to now. So, we get to give our son what appears to be a used gift for Christmas. It's not the end of the world, but disappointing.

Trap works. Yay!

The Kaos trap is finally available. Months and months after the game was released; half a year after a shortage of this and only this trap around Christmas 2014 when resellers charged around $100 for it; Activision has finally figured out by the end of May 2015 how to mold enough of these.

Anyway, I hate Activision's strategy of selling a game to get you later buy characters, and add-ons, and expansion packs to take full advantage of the gameplay. I have been talking to my son trying to convince him to avoid games in this format, and he seems to understand that it is not OK for a company to suck money out of his parent's pockets in this fashion.
