The night before Keegan left for college Aimee kissed him. She was sure based on his reaction that she was the cause of their falling out. She didn’t know what to expect all these years later going to interview him at his company for the magazine she writes for. She definitely didn’t expect him to pretend he didn’t know her until she was ready to leave however.
“Keegan and I merely stare at each other before I finally break the silence and say, ‘So you do remember me?’ Keegan turns around, walks to his desk, and picks up a photo from it, handing it to me. I look at the photograph, a picture of us from a camping trip we took in high school. In the photo we are huddled together looking onto the camera with two huge grins on our faces. We really were inseparable. ‘Of course I remember you Aimee. How could I forget you? You were like my other half. I don’t have a single memory from my childhood that doesn’t include you.
As soon as the jig is up the two are reunited. They are able to rekindle their friendship and even take it to the next level.
Keegan is a dream. He treats Aimee like a princess, whisking her to the most perfect places that both serve to deepen their budding romance as well as rekindle their friendship with reminders of their closeness and experiences from the past. However, despite the perfection of their second chance, there is one thing standing in the way of their happily ever after. Keegan has an “assistant” named Gretchen. It is clear she is possessive of Keegan and uses every opportunity she gets to try to isolate Aimee and stake her claim.
“’You know Keegan likes to play sometimes, but he gets bored fairly quickly. If you are expecting something permanent, you’ll be disappointed,’ she says. I remain silent, unwilling to let her ruin tonight for me, as she grabs her drink and says, ‘nice chatting, but if you’ll excuse me I have to get this to Keegan.’”
Aimee isn’t willing to give up that easily and she tries her hardest to trust in Keegan and let their love be strong enough to withstand any bitchy assistant. The closer that Keegan and Aimee get the harder Gretchen tries to drive a wedge between them. Eventually she reveals a secret that Keegan kept from Aimee and it’s enough to send her running….for now.
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to continuing the series. I think one of my favorite aspects of the story is the supporting characters. Aimee’s best friend Reece and Keegan’s brother Kaleb are great. They start their own relationship, with a few surprises, and it adds such a depth to the story. You will be left wishing you could hang with the foursome for a weekend barbeque or something.
Keegan is named the most eligible bachelor he is also Aimee's childhood best friend and the love of her life.
Keegan and Aimee met when they were both 7 years old.
I have never read anything by Mindy before, I am so thrilled to have read this book. It's a combination of comedy, drama and romance. The banter that goes on between Keegan and Aimee is so funny.
Then there is the bitch Gretchen she really trie her best to get under Aimees skin. Another ascept of this book that was amazing
Aimee a writer takes on a assignment for the magazine she works for and her subject is none other than her best friend Keegan James, the young man that walked out of her life and broke her heart after high school. In Skyscrapers and Camelot, the story takes you to Aimee's point of view. Aimee realizes that after seeing Keegan again her feelings for him have never changed and she is still in love with him .
Keegan James, is a wealthy bachelor and is owner to a very impressive architect firm. His encounter with Aimee is more than he expected, he knows that the day he walked away from her was his biggest mistake and she is and always has been the woman he loves.
With the characters that Mindy A. Carter has given us in this story it brings together the James brothers that have a very strong family bond, who both love Aimee, one as a sister and the other with all his being. I also enjoyed the friendship she shares with her roommate
and best friend Renee. Every character seems to play a important role and adds humor, love, anger and a glimpse of deceit. The love between Aimee and Keegan is inevitable but one person in Keegan's life will do anything to tear them apart. What secret does this person hold and how big of a part does she play in Keegan's life? The ending left me crazy and with a need to continue reading the second story Restoration and Forgiveness review for book 2 will come soon.
