Less repeating of songs in a day compared to Pandora. Can refresh music list and cache stations if on Premium Radio Member. Plays on Kindle, computer, and smartphone. Definitely recommend.

Been using their website for several years, chose it over Pandora because at the time I liked the station options better, not just by genre/artist but by time period. I haven't revisited Pandora since to see if they've updated because I've been satisfied with Slacker. This particular app is a great extension of the website with a simple interface to select stations and to Favorite and Ban songs. I like that it runs in the background when browsing the web and when I press the power button to shut off the screen. It's been a great way to introduce my baby (and myself) to classical music during meals since I don't know any song names but recognize a lot of songs.

Works great on my Kindle Fire. The app itself is pretty stable and it allows me to listen to my own customized stations or pre-made stations for free. Much better then Pandora or SiriusXM. I decided to subscribe to the service for $4 per month to get rid of the ads, have unlimited skips, and get offline play so I can listen in my car. They also offer on-demand like Spotify if you are willing to pay $10 per month. The app offers something for everyone.

It is important to make sure the screen isn't allowed to go to sleep/standby while you are listening. At least on my Fire, if the screen goes to sleep it will freeze the app after the current song stops playing. This is easily avoided by just adjusting the settings so the screen stays on. I think the actual reason is because the Fire turns off wifi if you let it go to sleep.

Been using slacker for a few years now, and still loving this app, there isn't anything else that lets you download a station so when you are out of range or in a dead zone you will always have music at your fingertips. I pay for the plus so I never have to listen to commercials, nobody comes close to the value and accessibility for a music app.

It's great especially if you go premium, however it would be better if I could make stations off albums as well as song and artist names

Having tried many differant "free" internet radio pages, I have since whittled the list down to 2 that I use consistantly: Slacker and Pandora. They both perform very well, Slacker focusing more detail in creating custom stations while Pandora's much more open in the music they select for their custom stations, giving you a wider selection. I tend to prefer the way Slacker fine tunes its offerings, using Pandora more during the holidays. They both have a limited number of daily skips on the free version and Slacker seems to have a bit more paid advertisements, though not enough to get annoying. They also both offer a subscription service that eliminates commercials and skip counts (unlimited skips), and Slacker offers ability to choose actual music being played, downloadable music, and a host of other neat features. Not as sure about Pandora's. I DO know that both are terrific sites, with the free version being enough for casual listeners like myself, and the relatively small subscription fee being well worth it if you are an avid
internet music user.

I could not get spotify to work on my tablet, but slacker does. It is as good as if not better than spotify. I am very happy with the app. It is free and works very well. The free version has ads but not nearly as many as pandora and I think also less than spotify. Just as there is an ad-free version with spotify,so you can pay a fee and do away with the ads in slacker.
