Product Description

In the latest comedy from Broken Lizard, (the creators of Supertroopers and Beerfest) "Slammin" Cleon Salmon (Michael Clarke Duncan) is a former Heavyweight Champion of the World turned celebrity owner of a high end Miami seafood restaurant, The Slammin Salmon. A terrifying bull of a man, Salmon uses fear to rule over his misfit waitstaff (Broken Lizards Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, as well as Cobie Smulders and April Bowlby) and on this particular night, he takes his bullying skills to a new level. In an effort to pay off a gambling debt to the Japanese Yakuza, Salmon sets up a contest to inspire his waitstaff to sell more food than they ever have before: the top selling server wins $10,000 while the waiter in last place gets served with a broken rib sandwichcourtesy of the Champ himself. Spurred on by greed and panic, the staff resort to backstabbing, bribery and indecent proposals in an attempt to upsell their patrons while simultaneously sabotaging their co-workers. As the hours pass, the dining room action becomes more frenzied as the contest escalates into a brawl for first place in order to win the money.

The Broken Lizard gang is back with The Slammin' Salmon, a rowdy comedy that spends a night in a restaurant of the same name. Boxer Cleon Salmon (Michael Clarke Duncan, 1999 Academy Award nominee for The Green Mile) owns the swanky eatery and needs to raise fast cash to settle a gambling debt. He challenges his hapless crew to a contest to see who can up-sell the most in order to reach his goal of $20,000 before closing time. Director Kevin Heffernan sets a rapid-fire pace loaded with pratfalls, spit takes, food fights, and bathroom humor. The Slammin' Salmon brings together the usual Broken Lizard (Club Dread, Supertroopers, and Beerfest) regulars: Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, Steve Lemme, Jay Chandrasekhar, and Heffernan (as the jittery manager). Cobie Smulders and April Bowlby round out the cast as frenzied waiters who'll do anything to avoid a "broken-rib sandwich" from the intimidating Salmon. Saturday Night Live's Will Forte plays a table-hogging, water-sipping lone diner who leaves a surprise tip. Vivica A. Fox and Morgan Fairchild make awkward cameos. The one-liners and sight gags can wear thin after an hour, but die-hard Broken Lizard film fans know what they're in for when they watch a Heffernan romp, and The Slammin' Salmon won't disappoint. --Francine Ruley

If you're into Super Troopers or Beerfest, this is absolutely a movie you must see. The characters are all over the top in a great way, and they all deliver a great performance. No in depth review since this is not that kind of movie. Watch it, love it ... repeat.

R.I.P. Michael Clarke Duncan

First off: Don't buy it on Blu-Ray. There is no reason to, and you can save a few bucks if you just buy it on regular DVD. The movie itself is very entertaining. It has a breezy tone that is great. The characters are all funny, especially Nuts. Broken Lizard movies hinge on the chemistry of the actors, and where they faltered with "Club Dread", they succeeded with "The Slammin' Salmon". All the actors work well together, with major props going to Michael Clarke Duncan. He was much funnier than I was expecting, and had some of the best lines. I highly recommend this movie if you are looking for an entertaining, light-hearted comedy.

If you love the Broken Lizard gang (Super Troopers, Beerfest) and you have been in the service industry, you will LOVE this movie. Bring "Waiting" into the Broken Lizard gang, and you have one hell of a funny movie. Don't even think about it...Just buy it!

This is the follow up to super troopers that I was waiting for. The humor is funny and detailed, while not being crude without reason. The jokes are crass, well placed and greatly delivered. Any fan of broken lizard will love it.

I'm not familiar with the Broken Lizard troupe, but this movie was a great and humorous surprise. Michael Clark Duncan is hilarious as Slammin' Cleon Salmon. While this movie will never be considered one of the great cinematic masterpieces of all time, it is a dang funny movie with a hilarious cast. This is the perfect move to watch with a group of slightly drunk friends on a Friday night. If the movie is lacking anything, it would be a weak link. This is comedy at its best.

I got this movie on the advice of my 25 year old nephew...I am 51...while we were talking about Michael Clark Duncan's recent tragic and early death. I had never heard of this movie. Clark Duncan's performance is very good but the movie does have some "silly" and "slapstick" aspects that are not things I usually like in a comedy. However, Clark Duncan's performance redeems those aspects of the film. The scenes that he is in are at times hysterical! I guess this movie was made by the same people who made Super Troopers (which I have never seen so cannot compare) but if you liked that movie or like Michael Clark Duncan...and who does not?...you will probably like this movie. Clark Duncan was a very kind and gentle man in real life but he portrays an angry and rather ignorant ex heavy weight champion in this movie. Totally against type which just highlights his acting ability. Let's face it, Clark Duncan went from a ditch digger to a bodyguard to a very good actor...quite the success story...but remained unassuming and sweet. He was loved by all of his co-stars. If you are still in doubt, check out some of the scenes from the movie with Clark Duncan in them on Youtube. That is what I did to make a final decision on buying this movie. Enjoy!!!

If you like the comedy crew's (Broken Lizard) other works like Super Troopers & Beerfest (Let's all forget Club Dread) you'll probably enjoy this as well. It's a fun, silly movie with mild raunchiness, slapstick humor and circumstantial gags but it's fun. Definitely worth the rental if you're looking for some silly humor.
