Tony Conrad is not the force behind Faust, they are a band in their own right-- he merely recorded a CD with them once. This doesn't mean that Conrad's drone rock isn't a gem of faux-static excellence

well, no! when i first bought this record, several years ago, i thought how can anybody record this, hum, "music"? it was plain "noise". but afterwards, i found it very energizing, vigorous, in a way sonic youth or shellac records do but in a different way. like if you listened to john coltrane's "a love supreme". your body gets tense, and you feel you're ready to run a marathon.
it sounds like the squeek-noise made by one or two violins, and there are some keyboards in the background, and someone hitting a pillow. the most alike music, let's say, could be the velvet underground's "sister ray", among others velvet's early songs.
interesting drones for those who are getting into avant-garde music, a must for the aficionado and a headache for the britney spear loving ones.
two thumbs up!

WITH THIS RELEASE TONY CONRAD THE FORMER FORCE BEHIND FAUST TREATS US TO AN ANARCHAIC CACOPHONY OF SOUND TO BOTH REPULSE US AND CHALLENGE US. HIS UNCOMPROMISING STYLE IS STILL PREVAILANT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. WITH TWO TRACKS (EACH LASTING AROUND 20 MINUTES) AND WITH AN ENSEMBLE OF 5 VIOLINS ,1 DRUM ,ONE PILLOW, 1 BASS AND A WEED STRIMER THE SOUND IS SOMEWHAT ASCERBIC. AREAL TREAT IF YOU CAN APPRECIATE THE FINER POINTS OF ATONAL MUSIC. THE IDEA BEHIND THE ALBUM IS THE FACT THAT PYTHAGORAS CREATED HARMONY (IN ALL IT`S GUISES) AND THAT CONRAD HAS TAKEN IT UPON HIMSELF TO SLAPP HIM ! DO YOUSELF A FAVOUR , BUY IT NOW.IT`S THE BEST ALBUM FOR YEARS.
