Nick has always been quite the ladies man. He has always had his fair share of women but never lets any of them get close to his heart. He is busy helping his good friends Brad and Val find a bass player for Val's new band Val Hella. When Sabrina comes to audition for the part Nick is immediately attracted to her. Not only is a she an amazing bass player she is a complete bada** which is a complete turn on for Nick.
Brina is a very closed off girl. She loves to play her bass but when the band is not practicing she tends to keep to herself. Nick is very intrigued by this mysterious woman and wants to try and crack her hard exterior. With the band getting ready to go on tour with Last Five Seconds Nick has a hard time getting to spend time with Brina alone. Once the tours starts though things heat up between Nick and Brina and he is quite disappointed when he finds out that Brina is in a relationship. Brina invites Nick to join her and her partner in a little bit of fun. Nick is intrigued by the offer but isn't sure how he feels about sharing Brina with someone else. He realizes that he is falling for her and hopes she feels the same. When the band goes back on tour though he sees that she doesn't feel the same way about him. Will Nick be able to convince Brina that they belong together or will he find his real true love along the way?
I have to admit that I hated Brina in this book. She was a cold hearted bi**h and I wish that Nick would have realized this early on. I loved catching up with Brad and Val and the kids. I do wish we would have gotten to catch up with Ethan and see how he is doing. He is my favorite character from the Bullet series. I was a little disappointed with the way the book ended as I really wanted more!! I can't wait to see what Jade is working on next!!
What took me by surprise is that Nick has become my favorite. I didn’t think anyone could take the place of Brad, but he did, in spades. There were many times I wanted to let loose on Brina, OMG what a b*tch! Of course, there were also times that, damn, I wanted to be Brina! *fans face* Holy hell, talk about some HOT scenes! I think one of my favorite phrases in the book is “the cock wants what the cock wants”.
I felt every emotion reading this book, and that is due to Jade’s outstanding writing. I have to say, I think this is my favorite in the series so far. I just may go back and read them all again just to make sure. :)
There is much more I want to say about this book, but I don’t want to give anything away. I will say that I love how things turned out and I want so much more of all of them. I would love to see how the next tour goes and maybe get a little more history on why Brina is the way she is.
This is by far one of my favorite series and I hope I have done some sort of justice trying to express my love of Slash and Burn. This is a definite must read. S&B can be read as a stand alone, but to fully grasp the characters and their backgrounds, make sure to start with Bullet and read them in order. You won’t be disappointed.
Nick Channing is Fully Automatic's drummer, and I have felt that through the other books in the series, he has been in the background. But not anymore!!
Now also playing with Val's new band, Val Hella (awesome name!) and it is time for him to hang up is "player" boots and settle down with that one woman who can tame him.
Sabrina/Brina/Sinna is just that woman - or so he thinks.
You know how sometimes you dislike a character at the beginning of the book but absolutely love them by the end? Yeah, Brina is not one of them for me! I just wanted to reach into my kindle and slap her from the beginning to the end!! I think I disliked her even more at the end of the book than the beginning!!
Well played Ms Jamison, well played.
The more we got to know Nick the more I adored him. Yeah he has the player reputation, but he is the kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. He absolutely loves Brad/Ethan and Val's kids, Would do anything for his friends. Adores his best friend Gracie.
There are a couple of things happening in the background with Val and Brad, which you will already know about if you have read Christmas Stalkings, but if you haven't, you should to get the whole picture.
Ms Jamison has a way that draws you into the world of her books. You can feel the music, hear the crowds, feel every emotion her character is feelings. At times I think I felt it even worse than they did!
And that is what I love about her writing. No matter which book of hers I am reading, I do feel that emotional attachment.
I don't want to say too much, but I just have to say that I felt that things ended up the way they always should have and would have. I just wanted more more more!
Now I just need to know more about Zane!
