WOW! I'm simply worn out! I've just finished Slaughter: White Out, and it was one hell of a ride! First let me say one of my most very favorite authors is/was Vince Flynn. I love his character Mitch Rapp and I love the way Vince wrote him and made him who he is. That being said I rate DJ Slaughter right up there with Mitch. This character has so much heart and is so real that I can't believe how much I love reading his story.
Thank You James Beltz, for giving us a hero to root for and one we can love because he IS the hero we would love to see lead in the real world. We can't really have that but we can have DJ Slaughter, the righter of wrongs, as our hero in our hearts.
Now you guys will love him too! He has GUNS, and Skills you would love to have and he gets the job done no matter what gets in his way! This is a true thriller series and I look forward to having DJ Slaughter in my home again! Damn this was a Good Book~!

I have read over 20 authors in this genre over the last several years, reading all their series and any new books they release. I am a particular book critic and always finish a book, however, the less than stellar ones will take me longer as I am not as inclined to pick them up. I want action, good character development, believable story-lines, suspense, emotion and more. A gripping book will frequently be read by me in under a day as I cannot put it down and read a lot during my times of insomnia at night. My top authors in this genre are Flynn (now Mills), Childs, Thor....Beltz ranks up there for me. I enjoyed seeing his growth as a writer even between book 1 and 2. This is an excellent series and has been added to my spreadsheet I keep of books in the series, when I read them and one the next one comes out so I don't miss it!

This book in the DJ Slaughter series should come with a warning -- don't get too attached to any characters. And don't think you can guess what's coming next. This is not an average action thriller. With fast-paced plot twists, turns and surprises, you never know who DJ should trust. Mr. Beltz also keeps the reader guessing who's a friend, who's a foe, or even which enemy might find redemption and be given a second chance. Before I was halfway through this book, I bought Book III, because I knew I was hooked. I hope the author keeps this series going for many books to come.

Books two starts out where one leaves off and the only chance you have to breath is while this book is downloading. If you read the first book, you are absolutely going to love this one, but you do not need to have read it to enjoy Book #2. The action does not stop. Is it vigilantism or justice. You decide. DJ Slaughter is former military and watched his entire family get murdered. In book one, he is just trying to be left alone, but his love of guns, led him into a scam with a mob boss's son. In the process he ran into Abbi, whose father was killed saving DJ's life. What a team they would make! He also connects with an FBI agent who understands his need for justice. In this book the crime boss has a son we didn't know about, but he is a bit player. The main problem is the contract killer whose identity he had used to take out the crime boss. Bullets fly in this one and bad guys end up dead, but there are plenty of surprises too.

It has been a long time I have been so thoroughly enthralled with a book! I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! James Belts has written a COMPLETE book. Characters so real and well-developed that I think I might know or at least have met them. DJ and Abbi never give up -always looking to solve the problems and put all the puzzle pieces together, accepting that the good guys have to slog through the muck (literally sometimes) to get the bad guys. Don't think you have it figured out as the plot has more twists, turns, and switchback than you can anticipate.
I give it five stars only because I cannot give it more.

The second book however propels itself far beyond the boundaries of the imagination and into the realms of the completely ridiculous. Managed to force myself through fifty percent of the book but in the end I had to admit I just wasn't dumb enough to find it interesting.
