"Moore does an excellent job of setting the scene of international intrigue, and although this novel is part of a series, it also works well as a stand-alone. The story jumps back and forth between the present and the past as Moore tells the story of Roxelane's capture by the Turkish army and her subsequent love affair with Suleiman. Roxelane is an excellent, strong female character, and Moore brings some obscure players from the Ottoman Empire vividly to life. She even quotes from Suleiman's actual poetry . . . to conjure a complex portrait of this larger-than-life figure. A satisfying historical thriller." --Kirkus Reviews
"Slave Queen by H.B. Moore is a powerful entry in the thriller category, a compelling story featuring Special Agent Omar Zagouri and a complicated case . . . H.B. Moore has won my heart as a gifted writer and a master entertainer. Slave Queen scores many literary successes. The characters are well developed, compelling, and exciting to follow. Agent Omar Zagouri is taciturn, intelligent, and relentless, and so is his opponent, the king of the black trade. The writing is tight and enjoyable. The historical setting sets a beautiful and colorful allure for a fast-paced, complex story. The conflict is monumental and raises the stakes for many characters. Zagouri is the kind of character that will stay with readers for long, like Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne, like James Patterson's Alex Cross, and like Lee Child's Jack Reacher . . . I loved Slave Queen exceedingly." --Romuald Dzemo, San Francisco Book Review

Moore gave us a two-fold story, one thread that tells us of the rich and oft romanticized 16th century Ottoman Empire, and the life of Sultan Suleyman, his poetry, and Queen, Roxelane, whom Suleyman elevated from slave status, to be his chief wife.
The book's main story however, is about Omar Zagouri, a man who tracks down and stops the thieves of priceless art and antiquities! Omar's hunt becomes personal when Omar's mother is injured by his enemies, and he finds that his life is at stake as well, as he searches for some priceless letters written in the hand of Queen Roxelane...
H.B. Moore does something that very few authors manage to pull off... She makes me care about both stories, I found myself actually grimacing (in a good way) when we switch points-of-view at the chapter breaks...
Go grab this audio book, and let H.B. Moore and Bon Shaw take you away to an exotic locale... and a story that spans the centuries.
Adventure and thrills await the listener of this marvelous tale!
I am amazed how totally immersed I become in your books.
This story was special for me. I loved being in Istanbul as well as traveling around the magnificently beautiful and historic country. Your detail and research make it all the better. Please keep writing the Omar Zagouri books. Great book.
