Plot - okay. Not terribly inventive. Nothing really new or mindblowing. Barely good enough not to have me lose all interest.
Wordcraft - very poor. Errors in Capitalization. Annoyingly clumsy sentences that are very very unelegant and not very readability. (Makes Trump seem like a poet. Go figure.) Certain phrases repeated over and over. And over and over. And over and over. And...
Editing - missing. I caught myself skipping paragraphs and pages until things got slightly more interesting. Detailed description of meals for instance. Seems like one of those chickens filets that have been injected with saline to increase weight.
Dialogue - not a SINGLE memorable phrase. No humor. Platitudes.
Character development - none. Shallow portrayal of relationships.
Science - poor. Several statements displayed lacking understanding of astronomy.
This tastes like mass produced military science fiction. And, like almost all books in this genre on Amazon, quality is terrible, but a certain segment of readers seem to just gulp it up and give raving reviews. The McDonalds connoisseurs of sf. No fine dining here. Unfortunately I got duped by all the reviews, and the fact that his books actually have been published in paper form. Usually you can avoid the worst by checking that, not so here.
My grading policy - examples to show what I'm comparing to.
***** Ready Player One. Old Man's War.
**** Olan Thorensson.
*** The Omniverse. Hidden Empire.
** The Slaver Wars
* Total crap, not even spellchecked.
