In "The Sleep Disorders Guide" the author explains all the various sleep disorders that are common to mankind. There are also some sleep disorders that are so strange you've probably never heard of them. So this book is very entertaining and interesting in that regard. Who ever heard of Fatal Familial Insomnia that keeps you awake until you go into a coma and die. Yikes. Sometimes it can feel like you are never going to fall asleep. So this book discusses insomnia, sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy and more. The author talks a bit about having a sleep diary, doing visualizations and hypnosis. I find a hypnosis CD is most effective. So if you feel like you are awake all night staring at the ceiling as I sometimes am, I think you will find this book interesting. I would have liked more solutions but I found the book to be entertaining.

It is a basic break down of the disorders and only some common remedies. i would like to see it updated at some point with more remedies like for sleep apnea there is more options than just CPAP. I did also learn that my laying in bed after waking up is bad and i need to just get up. The book is not expensive so it gets a 5 star from me. Thanks!

I'm extremely happy that I got this book. I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping the last couple months and the simple solutions offered in this book have really made a difference. The idea of a sleep diary never occurred to me, but allowed me to pinpoint what I was doing right when I was doing wrong. I noticed that on the weekends, I would totally disregard my regular sleeping pattern's, and then during the weekdays, It would come back to bite me. I also found melatonin to be effective along with the relaxation techniques found in this book. If you have trouble sleeping, then I would highly recommend this book.

This is a very in depth guide and I would recommend it to anyone who has a sleep disorder. For the first time I finally found the name to a slight disorder that I have "exploding head sleep ailment" I from time to time experienced this hearing exploding sounds while falling asleep and now I know what it is thanks to this book.

Also, the book goes into great details regarding remedies for most common sleep disorders and offers very good advice and information on some less commonly known disorders. This is a very good read and I highly recommend it!!

This book made me realized that I was a bit ignorant about 'sleep' disorders. Prior to reading this book I would just call it all' insomnia'. Its excellent overview of the most common sleep disorders made me learn some new facts. No false claims as for the super 'cures' and well-written. Delivers what the title promises.

I do have my bouts on my sleeping issues which prompted me to pick this book up.
I love the ideas in this book and it does go quite deep in to the issues of why it happens and how to reverse it. This book even goes in to the topic of hypnotherapy. This is a very complete guide on how to sleep better.

My wife has trouble sleeping and I got this book to help her. My plan is to try to get her to maintain a sleep log to see if we can figure out what is causing the problem. I was amazed by the number of sleeping disorders there are. My son is suffering from sleep apnea so I will pass on the information to him as well.

The author appears to have grabbed a bunch of pamphlets on his way out of the doctor's office and edited them down to the minimum needed to address the subject, if he were addressing 10 year olds, that is. More information is available, for free, on any internet search, on Wikipedia, on my pulmonologist's website. Please spare yourself this useless read.
