I was rather disappointed with it mainly because of how Kelsey was portrayed. There was quite a bit of time spent between her and Marcus in the previous two books building their relationship, but in this one Marcus is almost nonexistent. First it seems Marcus has walked away, but then it looks like Kelsey is the one dumping Marcus which caused him to leave. Needless to say Trent and Gray are present, but the way they were arguing about Kelsey came across as treating her like property with no input from her and "handling her" which is a constant theme. For all her status as a Hunter, she came across as too passive in her relationships. Kelsey was starting to look like a slut, wanting sex with anyone handy after she goes postal. Gray is not my favorite person and I don't understand why she's still hot for him after he deceived her about his demon father's contract and what it would mean to be married to him. No matter how he sweet talked me, I couldn't trust him after that. Then you have the whole two men and a woman- been there, done that already with Zoey and it felt redundant. How about something original , not just repeating the same old senerio with different characters not to mention Kelsey back in the same arena having a fight to the death-again. The plot got cluttered with everything going on from Lee occupying Zoey's son to Kelsey having sex with Gray occupying Trent with a sword in his gut, now that's a threesome image. It seems everyone showed up for this circus of a mystery of who's killing halflings- weres, vampires, demons, witches, halflings and angels. Anyone mentioned in the past books were jammed into this one. Here's hoping the next book is back up to the high standards I've enjoyed until now and not have to wait another 2 years for it to be published.
So many twists & turns. So much fun. The comment by Daniel, “That’s women’s work” ticked me off, but I couldn’t stop the flow of reading at the moment. So when Zoey comes back with - “ that’s men’s work” I loved it.
This book is full of the wit, humor & some of the most delightful sarcasm it is my joy to behold. That’s what I have found so much fun bout Lexi’s writing. I’ve read all that she has written. Not a less then interesting book in the lot. ~P~
There's a reason she's my favorite. I am totally fixated on this series and hope to God that I don't have to wait a whole year or longer to find out what's going to happen next!
