-Janet Evanovich, author of Notorious Nineteen.
"The secret is truly juicy, but plays second fiddle to Carrie and her engaging, endearing personality, her devotion to her children, her sparkling commentary, and her marriage dilemma with sexy but flawed cop Ted Brodsky, who tries to protect her despite herself. This sharp, sassy, suspenseful, smart mystery is a definite page-turner."
"Tesler uses the delicious irony of the stressed-out stress therapist to wonderful effect, rarely giving Carrie or the reader, time to collect her thoughts...."
- Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine
"Nancy Tesler is back with her always entertaining, crime-solving heroine....This page-turning novel with its carefully crafted plot is sure to garner more fans for Carrie Carlin."
- Romantic Times Magazine
"Tesler has a deft hand with pacing and a shrewd eye for character, especially women."
-The Drood Review
"Nancy Tesler knows how to write an extremely exciting who-done-it that can't be put down."
- The Midwest Book Review
From the Author
I'm often asked if there is anything of me in Carrie and I usually answer that Carrie is me just younger, infinitely more daring, and probably smarter. There are other similarities as well. I have no talent for sewing and ironing and Carrie's children are well aware (as were my children) that "permanent press" is a necessity on shirt and pant labels and nothing bought new should arrive home needing hemming. We both like to cook and dislike housework but do the minimum anyway. Carrie loves animals and has three cats and a large dog. When I was a child, stray cats used to follow me home. After reading "Lassie, Come Home," I 'appropriated' a neighbor's Collie. Embarrassed, my parents finally bought me a dog--a Scottie, not a Collie but a dog is a dog. Over the years when I lived in New Jersey and my children were young, we had dogs, cats, baby birds, and even a variety of chameleons. Today I have three rescue cats who traveled with me by air from New Jersey to California where we all now happily reside with my extremely goodnatured new husband who never had cats but is adjusting. I still miss New Jersey and Manhattan but it's hard to beat California sun.
