AN UPDATED VERSION OF THE BOOK WAS UPLOADED JULY 11TH. It's almost impossible to eliminate all errors, but this version should be pretty clean.

Some may have said it's confusing...I found it brilliant.
Some may have said there are plot holes...after I had all the information, I was able to fill in the "holes".
It's your call whether to purchase this book or not, but I'm here to tell you that you'll be missing one hell of a fantastic read if you don't. This book kept me up for days, kept me turning the pages and thinking, wondering, guessing. And when the pieces of the puzzle were put into place (which I did not see at all with all of my guesses) it became a race to the end. I didn't want it to end, but I couldn't stop reading about these two characters. I fell in love with them from very early on, and since this is such a long book, I got to love them for a while. And I still love them. It's taken me days to form enough thoughts to write a review, because it's so hard to talk about this book without giving anything away. And giving away the secrets to this book should be a crime. Anyone reading it with previous knowledge of what will happen is getting gypped. And it's not fair. I think everyone should feel the shock of it. The full impact.
So... with that being said. I can't go into detail about Sloth...or really about the characters. But I will tell you to buy this book. Even at 4.99, it's definitely worth it. I would've spent more on it.

I've read a few of Ella James' other books and they were okay. They're all interesting, but they never really struck me as "amazing."

Until this one.

Seriously, Ella, way to go. You nailed it. Everything about this book is perfect.

Just when you think you know what's going to happen, you realize that you don't. Talk about an emotional roller coaster of a book. I read this in 2 days and my poor husband had to deal with me alternating laughing and violently sobbing.

Amazing story. Can't wait to see what Ella writes next.

I could not see the point of this book. I am at 61% and all I've read about is scene after scene of sloppy wet sex. Every three or four pages they're at it again. And repetitious: So big, so wet, so deep. They quickly become boring. There's no room left in the pages to move a story along. There's a lot of unnecessary descriptions of the furnishings of homes, the contents of rooms, and there are characters that serve little purpose to the story, such as Nessa. I've kept trying to get through this; the 5-star reviewers urge us to stick with it. But it's painful. We're told he grows pot, has the usual defined body and corded muscles and some "secret" he's keeping from us and even from himself (given that we're in his head half the time.) He's a violent manwhore Our heroine is spineless and totally submissive. Nothing likeable about either one. The only emotion I felt was anger for having wasted my time.
If you like serial, rapacious and, and repetitiously described sex with very little between, this may be for you.
SPOILER.
Update: I skimmed through the rest, and I won't reveal the ending other than to say that they kept up the pace of the sex. Even when our hero is in the hospital near death, vomiting and in agony, he's got a constant hard-on and they're going at it every time we check in. That's hardly a side effect of dilaudid; if anything the opposite is true. Google it.
"You're such a California boy," she says in one of the few moments when they aren't doing it, spotting a manatee on his T-shirt. Really? California? Google manatee.

Ok I admit it, I am a chicken. When I first read this book there were only 5 star reviews and given the author's poignant notes at the end of the book I felt actually guilty about not loving the book. The last 1/3 of the book really was amazingly well-written and enjoyable. I agree with many of the other reviewers though, the author tried to keep everything such a mystery that it was just confusing and irritating rather than mysterious. I almost felt like I was left out of some inside joke. Around 50% I nearly put the book down to read something else because I was just tired of it and it seemed so unrealistic. I am glad I did not because the end really was the best part. I probably will not read the next in the series. Sorry!

I did enjoy this book, very much, but I had a hard time with parts of the story that left me scratching my head. I didn't understand why the characters were written in what I feel was a sub/Dom relationship? I didn't feel it should have been the case. There were plenty of sex scenes, maybe too many for me. I love stories that have a few great, hot, amazing sex scenes, but I found myself skipping over quite a few of them to get to the actual story. When finally getting to the heart of the story, I was devastated! It was emotional and heartbreaking and had me crying at 2 in the morning. The letter???? Omg, I was an absolute mess and sobbing like a child. Then I was happy for a moment, but then felt empty.
So, I had issues with things not coming to a conclusion or being resolved, FOR ME. These are my opinions only and not to be taken to heart by other readers. I needed more conflict resolutions, things weren't answered that I felt needed to be. There was just so much sex that I think some could have been cut and used as opportunities to give answers or bring closure to parts that I felt needed them. Lastly, the ending was a let down for me. I was happy - very happy with it - but once I get emotionally invested in characters, I guess I would've loved to have more than a few pages to end such a heartbreaking story, FOR ME! I'm happy I read Sloth, and had a difficult time rating it because I loved some parts and felt let down by others. This will not deter me from reading more by this author because I really did enjoy her writing style.
