About the Author

K. Bromberg was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from University of California at San Diego with two bachelors-economics and political science-but always loved to write. K. Bromberg remains in Southern California with her husband and their three young children. When not writing or working her day job, she can be found playing ninjas or power rangers with her son, fixing the hair of her oldest daughter's American girl doll, or doing 'arts and crafts' with her youngest daughter, or listening to any or all of them fight/whine/laugh at once. When she needs a break from the daily chaos, you can almost always find her with Kindle in hand, devouring the pages of a good book or mentally outlining her next set of characters.

I have been waiting for this book for what seems like FOREVER!!

And you know how that goes – there are expectations. You have way too long to dream up possibly storylines, to imagine how amazing the characters are going to be … too long to miss them.

And Beckett Dixon Daniels is my #bookhusband anyway, so there’s that.

I’m going to give you my honest opinion.

You ready?

Slow Burn is the best novel K. Bromberg has ever written.

*sighs*

Whatever I conjured up in my little mind while waiting for Becks & Haddie’s story was NOTHING compared to what we got in Slow Burn. NOTHING!

We all loved Colton Donavan in the Driven Trilogy; who can see a hot red sportscar, cotton candy, or hear Pink on the radio without thinking about ACE? I’ll be the first to admit, K. Bromberg had a LOT, and I mean a LOT, to live up to.

But she did.

And she rose my expectations for Quinlan & Hawkin’s story (Sweet Ache, coming in June 2015) to new levels.

Slow Burn is everything that the Driven Trilogy was … and so much more. It’s more of everything – deeper, sexier, and so much more emotional.

NOTE: Tissues are a requirement to make it through this book.

I love the sweet, southern gentleman that is Becks. And I adore the strong heroine that is Haddie Montgomery. The characters are a breath of fresh air, the storyline beautifully unique. K. Bromberg burned my heart slowly, writing her beautiful words on my soul, one word at a time.

Slow Burn can be read as a stand-alone; you do not have had to read the Driven Trilogy to understand it or enjoy it. (Although, I must admit, it’ll be even that more special if you do!)

My biggest complaint: there was too much internal dialogue. There needed be more conversation between the characters. I ended up skimming parts of the book because of this. And haddie was pushing Becks away the whole book practically.

I hate writing this review but I'm so disappointed in this book I have to. I loved the Driven Trilogy and have read it a few times because I love it so much. But this story was so damn cheesey. The little sayings she uses over and over again and Beck's way of saying things was so fake. People do not talk this way. There was no real story. The cancer thing was such a downer and dragged on and on. The story was a copy cat version of Rylee and Colton. Oh, and the Boob Voyage party was in such bad taste. The end was rushed after the first 30 chapters dragged on and on. Why was there a Dante in this book. If Haddie was so tough she would never have put up with this jerk. Just so disappointed after waiting for this book to release.

Not going to lie...a little disappointed by Slow Burn. Love Kristy B as she is so talented and I totally fell in love with the Driven Series.

Not sure what happened with this one. It wasn't bad it just wasn't at all what I expected or anticipated.

I was so excited to know we would get Becks and Haddie's story...beyond thrilled. But I felt the Haddie from the Driven Series and the Haddie from Slow Burn were two different characters. Haddie from the DS was fun, hilarious, carefree, and strong. Not that she wasn't strong in SB but it was different. Yes she was dealing with so much...Her Mom having cancer twice and her sister having cancer and not surviving and the constant fear of the threat in her own life. That would change anyone. And there in lies my dilemma. Because we had so much angst, drama, emotion, and heartbreak with Colton and Riley I was hoping for something more light, fun, funny, and sexy for Haddie and Becks. The Driven Series was one of the best series...not that I've read...but literally one of the best series. But, I was emotionally drained after reading it. I couldn't pick up my Kindle for a week or two because I had to process and take in the emotional journey that was Colton and Riley. So I guess this time around I wanted more playful, light, fun, and sexy which is the Haddie I loved from DS.

I also hated the emphasis and importance of Haddie's ex Dante. You were with the guy, loved him, thought he was the one, then he leaves/dumps you with no warning only to return asking for a place to crash. Hmmm I'm pretty sure I would have told him to take a hike but she lets him move in and continues to lust after him. Granted they never have sex but the fact that she kisses him and considers it more than once to remove Becks from her head...WTF?

I have to preface this review with the notions that I love the driven trilogy immensely, and I thought Becks and Haddie were great fun and had so much potential. The reality is Slow Burn was exactly that, slow. Haddie spent to much time in her head and created all the angst between herself and Becks to the point that I was skipping her inner rationalizations and glossing over redundant phrases and paragraphs.

I hated the self fulfilling prophecy of Haddies and that is all I can say about her whole storyline.

The sex was strange because it showcased Becks demanding side and that was the treasure amongst the rest of the nonsense.

Overall, thinking back I must say I was dissatisfied with Coltons POV in book 4 because it was simply authors thoughts and rewritten scenes. Now I was les than dazed by Slow Burn...I won't be buying anymore of her books, their are better storytellers out there to waste my time and money.
