I loved this book. It is a young adult audience. It moved along at a steady pace and kept me interested. Was a quick read and I would recommend her books again.

Although an enjoyable, "fun" read, as some other reviewers have said, this is not a trite, shallow, superficial, or maudlin book. The story is deeply engrossing, poignant, and well crafted. Ms. Harmon has a sophisticated and captivating narrative voice, and I find myself completely immersed in the world of the story.

Like some of the other reviewers, I read Running Barefoot before Slow Dance in Purgatory. I'd say Running Barefoot is an exquisite diamond, and this is an impressive gem, wonderful and beautiful in its own right.

You better believe that I'm going to be reading Prom Dance in Purgatory....

P.S. One day it would be wonderful to have certain books come with soundtracks. How great would it be to have the music mentioned actually play while reading! :-) **Hmmm, maybe when this is made into a movie, eh?**

This was an extremely delightful book. It had romance, hope, and even comedic relief. I can't wait to read the second installment of this story. It gripped me, especially because I love the fifties and time/ghost related stories. I love fifties music as well so I loved how the author put song titles with each chapter. Very nice story. :)

I was a little nervous about what this book would be like. I've never gotten into ghost stories, it was referred by a friend of the author, and I've usually been pretty disappointed in the books I've bought during Amazon's free (or super-cheap) e-book sales. However, I was very surprised to find it enjoyable and well-written.

This was a great, fun read! I thought the storyline was engaging and I enjoyed the characters. The plot had interesting turns and enough mystery that I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Though I got it for free, this book is definitely worth the full price if you're looking for a sweet, clean, and a little-bit-spooky, romance.

This is the second Amy Harmon book I've read. I enjoyed it a lot. I read love/fantasy/ghost stories from time to time and this one was a fun read! I like that there isn't loads of cussing and silly lurid situations in this author's books. The way she writes, it isn't necessary to enhance her stories making it great for teens and adults. Thanks for the story, I look forward to reading book two!

I have always loved ghost stories, and this book did not disappoint. Slow Dancing in Purgatory is a very entertaining light read with no objectionable content and a sweet storyline. It is set in the 50s and replete with references to the cars, clothes, and music of the era. The author captures the emotions of a young girl who feels insecure and unconnected very well, and her plot and dialogue are entertaining. It has a little mystery and some ghostly encounters to boot. I read it in one day--it was just so much fun I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended.

Both Book 1 and Book 2 just drew me in and could not stop reading. Time travelling is hard to write and I am not sure I fully understand it all but such an emotional ride, and I felt the depth of feelings of the main characters. And the references to books and characters within the book are uplifting and keep our focus that life has unexpected outcomes and we have to be positive in our thinking to move along with it.

Very easy & pleasant read. Glad I took a chance. Only complaint the book end to abruptly, I know there is another book, can't wait to read it. Anyone can relate to this story.

This book is so worth it. I found it original and interesting. I think the author did a great job of creating interesting characters that the reader can really visualize. It deals with ghosts, time-travel, and romance. I love a great romance that doesn't rely on sex to sell it. It was clean- but don't let that deter you. There is a lot going on in this story. Maggie is kind and easy to like; and what's not to like about Johnny. I would give it 4.5 stars- because I really liked it. I only give 5 to books that I'm certain I will want to read again because they are SO amazing. This was great- almost 5.

Slow Dance in Purgatory begins in 1958 with Johnny preparing to fight some boys from school. While things are heating up between the boys a scene happens that leaves no witnesses to testify to how a boy ends up dead and another ends up missing. Johnny is that missing boy who is now stuck in purgatory, which happens to be his highschool were he was killed.

In present day, Maggie is the new girl at the highschool. She begins to “see” Johnny in the hallways and their relationship gets underway when Maggie comes to the school on her off hours to dance in the studio. Johnny is able to manipulate the things connected to the school and plays certain songs to communicate his presence to her.

I enjoyed listening to this book ...it’s one of Ms. Harmon’s first books published back in 2012. The story has the same beautiful writing that Amy Harmon fans are accustomed to. What caught my eye about this book was the cover because it’s GORGEOUS!! The stunning cover and the compelling story makes for another Amy Harmon winner.
