Looks great on the Vita screen. frame rate is rock solid, and it all controls incredibly well. This kind of game feels like it was made for portable systems. Sanzaru continues to quietly release some amazing games. Pick this one up!

There's alot to like about this collection, but it's not perfect.

Pros:
Games run very well and look great, even better than what I was expecting.
Tight controls. The games control very well, not missing out from the console version.
The portability makes it that much sweeter, being able to play these gems anywhere.

Cons:
Sly 3 must be downloaded via voucher... disappointing, yes, but I already knew that going in. So I hope you have a descent size memory card. The pic here on amazon says "required memory 2mb", but when you actually recieve the game the cover will say "required memory 2.9gb" for sly 3 of course, a bit shady there.
Audio compression. Doesn't sound as good as the originals, but that's to be expexted. I recommend just using headphones.

Overall, great ports! Very well done.

After playing through these wonderful games again (several times), I thought I would give my opinions on the port job and how it compares to PS2, and PS3. I own all versions of these games, and will point out less obvious changes.

Performance: First off, I will say it immediately! There are very rarely any framerate issues that destroy your experience with this collection. It's that good! I did find the menus were slightly slower at times for navigation, but it isn't bad at all. It's mostly smooth!

Visual presentation: I found the games to be between PS2, and PS3 quality. What I mean by that is, the textures are less edgy, and blurry than the PS2 versions. The games look fantastic! They are more edgy than the PS3 ports, but they look great! One minor issue here, are the cutscenes. While they didn't bother me on the PS3 version, on the Vita, I see it is more edgy, and don't seem to be optimized in any way for the Vita. They are still enjoyable to watch though.

Sound quality: I played through all three ports, and I found that the audio is clear enough to hear everything going on. It doesn't sound like terrible echoes, or buzzy like a walkie-talkie (exception of in-game chat from intercom) Although, the sound is rather quieter in some areas, and louder in others. As an example, you hear Bentley speaking loud and clear, but Sly's whispers can only be heard at louder volumes, even with game audio at its max. Everything can be heard somewhat well at 60% for Vita volume, or higher. I recommend headphones to hear those quieter sounds a lot better. The game still sounds great at a higher volume level without headphones though.

Controls: Now we know the Vita has less controls than a dualshock, so how well do the Sly games control on Vita? I'll tell you.

This version of the collection is unfortunately not the best it suffers from bad audio quality and it's not as smooth as the ps3 version. The overall experience is definitely still there and it's great especially on the go but i recommend the use of headphones for this game. There is a chance you will experience some odd glitches that weren't present on the PS3 version of the collection. The worst thing about this collection is the fact that Sly 3 is a download voucher and it requires a little bit over 2GB of space to play. Overall it definitely is a great game but it's not the best port of the Sly games.

I have to say that of all the famous originals being released on PS Vita, this one is flawless. Really plays well. I do think it is a little misleading to advertise the hard copy as a collection of 3 when only Sly 1 and Sly 2 are actually on the hard copy/card. Sly 3 is a download from the included redemption code, and my code wouldn't work. Not happy about that but oh well. I prefer downloads for easy access but always get the hard copy as backup so I have the collection of 3 but they really need to alter the description or add the 3rd game to the card. JMO

I'll just be reviewing the quality of the port here - if you want to know how good the game is you can look up another review.

First of all, you should be aware that only Sly 1 and 2 are actually on the cartridge. Sly 3 must be downloaded, so make sure you have space on your memory card for it. I think it's about 1.3 GB.

For the most part it's a good port. Framerate is smooth most of the time, though it will occasionally drop a bit when there's a lot going on, though it never becomes unplayable or anything.

For Sly veterans, you may be wondering what they did about the L2, R2, L3, and R3 buttons.

For L2 and R2, the answer is that they simply don't exist. Whereas on the PS2/3, you could have 3 powers at once, mapped to the L1, L2, and R2 buttons, on this version you can only have one power at a time mapped to the L1 button. It's annoying, but ultimately it does the job.

R3 has been mapped to the touchscreen. It's a bit unwieldy, but luckily you usually don't need the binocucom on a moment's notice, so ultimately it's fine.

L3 has been mapped to the rear touchpad, which works well.

While it's not a perfect port, its still quite good and I think any Sly fan will be happy with it.
