About seventy-five years before the advent of Jesus Christ, the prophet Alma met with his son Helaman to give him counsel. The theme of the 2011 BYU Women's Conference focuses on one facet of that advice, that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise" (Alma 37:6).

A friend let me borrow this a few months ago when I was having a hard time and feelings really overwhelmed by life and motherhood and just feeling totally inadequate. I found the book to be really helpful and comforting and so I decided to buy a copy even before I got through reading it. I even got one for my mother-in-law. If you go look in Deseret Book, they usually only have certain years of Talks from the BYU Women's Conference in stock but they always have this one even though it's 5 years old now. I think that attests to its lasting value.
