Product Description

Product Description

Children will learn to sort by shape with our Egg Shape Sorter. This set includes six self correcting eggs and makes matching an activity to repeat over and over.

Amazon.com

This ordinary-looking carton of eggs is a unique shape-sorting toy; it stands out from the rest because it's attractive and adorable, not just functional. Open the robin's egg-blue carton to find six perfectly white eggs. The surprise is that within each egg (which splits in two) is one of six shapes and colors. Just pulling out the eggs and opening them will be a challenge at first. With experience comes more manual dexterity. Young kids will be able to recognize the orange diamond, the green triangle, the red star, and match up the eggshells in time. A great toy for playing grocery store, too. --Lynne Sampson

Having purchased many of the Hide and Squeak Eggs sets for my son and birthday gifts for other babies, I thought I'd give this egg set a try: it's not worth it. The Express Egg Shape Sorter just isn't as enjoyable. You have to line up the pieces just right to get them to connect, and for little hands and little babies, this just isn't possible yet. Also, the case is very flimsy and the whole thing just feels so cheap.

The Hide N Squeak Eggs come in a really fun case, the shells intermix and young babies can connect them on the different eggs very easily. Even the eggs are cute, when you press them they squeak! It is difficult for my son to put the egg shapes in the right place in the egg carton, but not a big deal; he enjoys playing with the eggs while he's learning to master this skill.

The Express Egg Sorter has limited appeal and use. Really wouldn't buy these again. I definitely recommend the Hide N Squeak set.

I'm puzzled by some of the other reviews...my child's experience with the egg sorter is completely different from those who report difficulty and frustration. A friend of mine gave it to my son when he was 2, and indicated that it was her daughter's favorite toy. My son found it equally entertaining. When other toys were cast aside permanently, it was one that he would go back to. Visiting friends were always attracted to it as well. When he at last outgrew it, I kept it in the very small collection of sure winners for visitors and potential grandchildren. Yes, there is a right way to put each egg together, and a right way to fit the egg in to the crate, but it is designed to promote pattern recognition and build dexterity. Challenge is good! I agree the handle is flimsy but it hasn't been a problem in the 13 years that we've had ours. Of course it only got daily use for about 2 years. I'm now buying another set for nephews who want their own!

We had these eggs 30 years ago when my children were babies, and I was so happy to see that they are still available for my grandchildren to play with. Perfect for kitchen play, these span a wide age range.

While my grandaughter loves to play with thsee eggs, they are too difficult to pull apart and the toy. Arten looks like it's going to break easily enough. I gave it 3 stars because of the difficulty of pulling apart. But it's still a good toy for your little ones!

I bought this for my 2 year old son to go in his play kitchen - i thought the extra educational value of the shapes and colors, also practicing his dexterity would be a great plus. I was also looking for a set with a carton that would be durable and last (plastic not the cardboard kind). With these expectations I am very satisfied with this purchase. The carton is a little plain but cute and should hold up over time, even the little tab that keeps it closed. The egs each have a different shape and color on the inside, they all come apart easily but stay together pretty well too, my son is able to do them all and gets lots of enjoyment from doing it himself, in fact no one but him can touch these eggs! He also has fun taking them out and putting them back in the case.one reviewer said if you put the fat side down it will get really stuck, I've tried it and found it does get tight and does fit better skinny side down but we haven't had a problem of them getting stuck yet. I gave four instead of five stars because the quality could be a little better, but I think it will last many many years. I would recommend this to anyone with a play kitchen and looking for fun food to go in it, or if your looking for the educational value this is a great little toy also.

The plastic is so so cheap- the latch almost broke and clearly bent when I opened it the first time (the plastic in blue and there is a white bend mark in it- if that makes sense.) The eggs themselves don't come apart with reasonable force in my opinion. My nephew has the TOMY set and loves it so I am returning these and purchasing that.

My two year old could take these apart and put these together just fine but could not close the case. I also have a feeling the tap that keeps the case closed will fall off soon. These are cute but he didn't continue to play with them. I like toys that kids play with long-term. He has other kitchen toys he prefers much more.

The eggs are difficult to get apart and whilst younger kids may be able to match the shapes they do not yet have the dexterity to get the eggs apart and back together again. My daughter is four and has difficulty getting the eggs apart. She does use them in her pretend kitchen though. The colors are nice and they look like real eggs - so it is basically a good product, but if you are thinking of them for a two year old think again - they will only get frustrated. Better to wait until they are older unless you can assist.
