For years I've tried cages - even bought a couple over the years - they were a nice idea but nothing more.
SmallRig is a game changer - esp with the smaller cameras - also does wonders with the Sony RX100 series
PS For EF shooters - there is a lot of nonsense about access with larger EF lenses - they say it's tough to reach trhe rease button on the controller. True BUT it's a non-issue:

I LOVE this cage!!
So this cage just lives on my R7 all the time now. the only time it comes off is when I need to use my Gimbal. The cage isn't needed and adds a bit too much weight for the gimbal. Otherwise I just keep it on my R7. It protects the body and it adds a bit of "girth" to the camera when using the camera for still images. I have larger hands and the R7 is smaller then my last Canon body. With the cage on the body I don't have any issues grabbing the battery grip area and now my pinky finger has a place to land.When I need to shoot video, the cage allows me to mount all the things needed to turn the R7 into a video shooting tool. I can add a top handle, mount a monitor, add a side grip, mount an external shotgun mic and hang the wireless receiver on the cage. Its a very, useful and needed part for video production when using these smaller camera bodies. Otherwise, there would be no way to add all the parts you need.The cage itself is very light and doesn't add that much more weight to the body, but it does add a lot of usability and protection.And the added features that SmallRig has added in are just really very well thought out and executed. Having small magnets built into the cage to hold a small tool that you need to put the cage on and off is simply genius! The tool with an allen head driver and a flat blade driver are all you need to mount the cage. Its always with the cage. So smart.I have several other SmallRig parts that go with the camera to complete my rig and they all work so well with this cage.I really like this cage!

This cage doesn’t obstruct any ports or doors, mounts solidly onto R7 body, and works well with multiple accessories.

Hormis cela, la cage est excellente et permet de maintenir parfaitement le boitier sans aucun jeu. Elle sacrifie pour sa stabilité les passants latéraux du boitier qui servent à enfiler la lanière. (photos1 et 2)
Les picots à vis qui s'y insèrent pour figer le boitier possèdent en outre un passant pour les remplacer.
J'apprécie aussi la qualité des matériaux. Je trouve par contre dommage que la poignée assortie ne soit pas en vente en France et j'ai donc dû me rabattre sur un modèle plus classique.
J'avais testé une cage Tilta beaucoup moins chère avec poignée incluse, mais je l'ai rendue car je n'aimais pas, entre autres choses, le fait qu'elle occulte les commandes sur le dessus du boitier et que la poignée soit faite pour des petites mains. J'ai fait un commentaire détaillé sur la page du dit produit pour ceux que ça intéresse...
Voilà. En conclusion, mon seul reproche concerne la pince serre-câbles et la non disponibilité de la poignée ad hoc.
Un dernier point, le bord latéral gauche de la cage a été affiné afin de permettre un accès au bouton pour libérer l'objectif ce qui n'était pas le cas dans la première version de la cage.
