One caveat. Make sure you have planned and priced out your entire rig (down to the smallest part) before you start buying stuff, because I guarantee that you will forget items and under-estimate the total cost before you start. So long as you have the budget, then Smallrig allows you to make a totally kickass, fully customizable, and personalizable rig for your video or photographic needs. Components used in my rig:
Smallrig 1750 - Professional Camera cage
Smallrig 922 - 90 degree Rod Clamp Railblock for Side Handles
Smallrig 1784 - Universal Lens Support with 15mm LWS Rod Clamp
Smallrig 1674 - Low Profile Base Plate with Rod Rail Clamp
Smallrig 870 - 2 of SmallRig 15mm Carbon Fiber Rod - 20cm 8inch Long Complanate Surface (non-thread, Pack of 2)
Smallrig 1061 - 2 of DSLR Camera Rod Handle, Leather Grip with 15mm Rod Clamp ( Black)
Smallrig 1053 - Aluminum Alloy 15mm Rods 30cm 12inch Long (M12-30cm) (Pack of 2)
Haoge 50mm QR Quick Release Clamp Adapter with 60mm Plate (Compatible with Arca-Swiss Standard)
Fotyrig Camera Top Handle Cheese Handle Grip with Cold Shoe Mount
I also made sure to get some 1/4" to 1/4 and 1/4" to 3/8" threaded screw adapters to fix things to the cage
Total came to a little over $320, but I now have a completely bespoke rig that feels completely right to me (despite being a novice), and I've had good feedback from others who have seen it regarding functionality and stability. I need to add a little more to give me a shoulder rest. but overall I'm stoked with the end result!
I specifically put a QR clamps inside the cage, under the camera, to make releasing the camera easier without having to disassemble the whole cage. I use the cold shoe to lock the top of the camera to the top plate of the cage and increase rigidity, but this does make removal a little more involved. I then attached the ARCA plate from the QR clamp underneath the cage such that I can instantly clamp the rig into a tripod if I need to do a panning shot etc.
The 8" carbon rods are used for the handles - two halves that sit in the handle clamp but come out without having to take one handle off the rig. Handles stow for a reduced footprint when packing away.

I think for most uses, if someone is buying their own gear and doing their own work (as opposed to professionals whose companies might rightly be buying brands like Wooden Camera), this must be the best value out there for a simple cage that adds weight and presence to the camera while giving you DOZENS of 1/4 20 mounting points for mic, recorder, monitor, etc.
SmallRig, I am impressed and you've won my loyalty as I build my rig into various configurations!
A note about the photo below: I LOVE the wood handle (that's sold seperately) but it was too long for the cheese rod on this cage. I spent and hour or so cutting it down and sanding it to fit. If you have tools and want a nice wooden grip on a GH4 rig, this is a good DIY cheap route! Hope this has been helpful.
This cage is definitely not quick release. It requires an hex key for securing the hot shoe mount. It's easiest to attach the top and bottom plates separately, and then attach the arms. Not a big deal, but this isn't an ideal cage if you want to be able to quickly switch to a bare camera (for photos, for instance). Also, the bottom plate isn't really ideal for attaching a manfrotto 501PL plate. In the future I'll probably use the 3/8" tripod screw to attach the tripod plate to the bottom of the cage and see if that helps.
All things considered, this is a great way to mount a monitor and mic on a 5D3 without adding a ton of weight and still keeping the total package small and easily manageable. I was previously hanging everything off of the camera's hotshoe, and this cage is much more sturdy and well balanced solution.
Nicely made but design is not quite as flexible as it looks. I had to use only one screw on the clamp and and a 3/8-1/4 insert on the cheese bar.
Bought for Fuji X-T2 but it's the wrong part for the job and Smallrig does not make a proper HDMI lock for their own X-T2 cage. There is one floating around on fleabay under part number 1949 but it is not listed on the Smallrig website and looks like a knockoff. Also the other one will still interfere with the access door.
The clamp is just barely tight enough (it bottoms out well before closing fully) for a microHDMI cable, and has teeth which I would worry about chewing up a cable with some regular use. The screw tightener is nice and IMO critical. I can't be juggling allen keys all day long. Every screw and every allen key is just another thing to lose at the most critical moment.
After scouring the Smallrig website I figured out you can make a suitable riser out of the smallest Cheese Bar. It's not an elegant solution and still makes a mess sticking out the side of the rig but it does just work just barely. It allows everything to clear both the access door and the access cover on the grip.
