I bought this scale to weigh kittens! My family has fostered litters of kittens from the humane society, and the foster families are supposed to keep track of the weight of all the kittens, which each weigh just a few ounces. Our old scale was so big and clunky with a separate tray on top that was always falling off. This new one is like the size of a very slim paperback book. We put a bread pan on the scale to contain the kittens. You can zero out the weight of the bread pan (or whatever container you are using to hold food) by pressing the “tare” button.
I don’t plan to use the app, because I am not using it for a diet plan. But you can use the scale independently just to weigh things. You can cycle between different measurement units.
Now I can donate my old bulky scale to the humane society.

The scale comes packaged well and measures prefectly. The packaging and instructions tell you what app to download for the nutrition information. The app has an extensive searchable database of lots of foods. Not every product will be in there, but you can probably find a similar product if the one you're eating isn't there. The app gives you information about protein and carbs, not just calories, so this is super-helpful for diabetics as well.
