Raised by a rather mean mother who did nothing to celebrate the wit, intelligence and keen humor within her young daughter, the author identified herself as below average and un-appealing.
Emerging as a person more certain of her self-worth by the end of the tale, the author allows the reader to see vulnerabilities, shaping factors, life lessons learned, and a peek into a career not experienced—or talked about—by most.
Although this book may be too much information for highly conservative persons, I found myself wincing at only one part—when an eight-month’s pregnant client requested services. Although the author speaks of not wanting to bring on labor, she was unaware that nipple stimulation can indeed bring on labor due to the concomitant release of oxytocin and, in fact, nipple stimulation has been used in laboring women to move things along! So yikes, if any doms out there are going to work with clients with specific health conditions, as a nurse for a consult first.
Five stars, for frankness as well as writing ability and humor.
But if you think it's all about sex, it's not. This is the memoir of a woman becoming comfortable in her own skin, unashamed of who she is in a world sadly too filled with hypocrites. A lesson in life for all of us, no matter the path you choose.
Funny, poignant, thought provoking, sad in places...Jacky is honest about relationships with family, friends, lovers and clients.
Well-written and well-paced, I love her courage in living the life she makes for herself. Bravo!

You get to travel along with Jacky as she steps away from her old life, lacking in confidence and see her transforming into a self confidant woman who knows what she wants and has a blast throughout.
There are funny bits, sad bits, surprising bits and cringe worthy bits. I also love the way she plays you by making out she's done something when she hasn't.
Jacky is very honest about her feelings towards her lover and how this affected her emotionally and how her friends enter her life.
I was pleased to hear that her move away from blighty only added to her list of accomplishments.
A great read, go on read it, you don't know what your missing 😉
The catalyst for her transformation from respectable two-piece suited, frumpy-shoed businesswoman to 6” stilettoed, 3” finger-nailed, leather-clad merciless disciplinarian is Max, a married work colleague with whom she has a long-running affair. Some readers may regard him as an abuser; he certainly came across to me as a manipulator, but it is thanks to him that she finds liberation and her true vocation.
From her London dungeon within a whip’s length of Holborn Police Station in Central London, Jacky caters to the various pleasures of her clients of all ages, colours and genders.
The story is extremely funny in places, equally sad in others, a penetrating and quite explicit eye-opener into the world of ‘alternative’ sexuality in all its forms, and really well written with witty puns and double-entendres.
Not for the easily shocked, but anybody who is open-minded and curious, Jacky Donovan’s very honest memoir makes an intriguing and amusing read that may leave you wondering what if ..........
It’s definitely changed my relationship with éclairs and glacé cherries.
