Very unreliable if you plan to use this in any security capacity. Ordered this direct from Samsung when I saw a promo for $15 instead of $40 so figured why not. Paired this with and iris door/temp sensor that's listed as compatible to start out. Paired quickly with the app/hub and seemed to work ok but then after 20 minutes or so it listed the sensor as closed when it was open. Now I would first assume the sensor but then everything seemed to work fine after I woke the Nvidia Shield from it's screensaver (not sleep), that's a major issue as the longest the Shield can sit without starting the screensaver is 2 hours per the settings, making all sensors useless if nobody is around to "wake" it back up from screensaver or sleep . I also reset my phone's wifi/4g and app, the Shield's power (wired lan), and unplugged/plugged back in the stick and retested with the same issue when I also noticed that my app (smartthings) listed the hub and sensors online and ready when the stick wasn't even connected. Reset my app and connections again with the stick unplugged and my app still listed everything as set and ready.... Very glad I tested it out a bit before I put any more money or trust into this device. Added app screenshot, hub has been unplugged for about 45min and app reset several times yet listing hub as online.

I also would have liked to see (had this hub worked to begin with) atleast some control and alerts in the shield app itself. The app included contains only setup videos.

Tl;dr: If the Shield sleeps, turns on screen saver, or the stick is unplugged the smarthings app will tell you everything is still online and ready/secure when it is not.

No issues here pairing different types of smart devices so far (Outlets, switches, bulbs, LED strips and sensors).. Mostly Smartthings, Sengled and Sylvania items. All linked with Google Assistant so I can control items by voice from any of my Shields or my Google home. Motion sensors that trigger the lights and a portable heater based on the temp of the sensor or schedule. Open/Close sensors on 2 doors that work well so far and are very responsive. I think placement has everything to do with how well the open/close sensor will work. I bought the Shield Bundle for Shield rewards members and this was a great intro to smart home control and so far I'm loving it.

Works great for home automation devices

Works like a charm. I have the 2nd gen Nvidia Shield. The hub works even if the Shield is in sleep mode. I can see the status of my hub using the smartthings app. It's shows if the hub is online or offline. It will be online all the time even if the Shield is in Sleep mode. I control my Lifx bulbs, Samsung Outlets and Google Home Mini's.

I have had the Nvidia shield for some time now and it is an awesome device. One of the key reasons for it's purchase was due to the fact that it could eventually be used as a Smart things Hub.
The wait was very long but I am glad I did.
Setting up the hub itself was quite easy once the smartthings app for the Nvidia shield was downloaded. For some reason however the "download" option was not there within the Google play store (propbably due to my location) so I had to sideload the APK file unto the Nvidia Shield.
From there the setup was seamless. I linked the hub to my Android phone as per the instructions given and also integrated it with Google home.
I have no issues at all with the Nvidia Shield going to sleep I even intentionally cut the power to see how quickly the hub recovered and I must say that I was pretty impressed with it's recovery time.
It's a good device; 4 stars instead of 5 due to the sideloading of the Nvidia shield smartthings app.

I got this from Samsung because of the promotion they ran. It came with a motion sensor and 2 sengled bulbs. The set up was easy enough with the smartthings app on my phone and so i moved on to pairing it with my google home..... this is when the problems started. Those specific bulbs with smartthings do not play very well with google home. I am going to reach out to google and samsung to see if maybe i did something wrong, but my hopes are not high. I was able to us ifttt to integrate with google home but that is a little tiresome and i was hoping they would work as advertised and i wouldnt have to do anything but link my google home account with my smartthings account.
