About the Author
My name is Penny Brunner. My husband, Jerry and I currently live in Central Pennsylvania. We are BLESSED to be the grandparents of Miles Brunner. Miles was born on October 31, 2012. Shortly after birth Miles was admitted to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Children's Hospital, Hershey, Pennsylvania. Miles was diagnosed with a very rare and currently incurable Pediatric Genetic Disease named Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia NKH. Currently there are approximately 600 living cases of NKH world-wide. August of 2013, myself and our son (Miles' Father) Matthew Brunner established, Smiles for Miles Non-Profit Organization. It is our goals to bring AWARENESS of Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia NKH and other such Orphan Pediatric Genetic Diseases, also Cortical Visual Impairment. HELPING families currently battling such diseases. Assist in raising funding to enable continued RESEARCH. It is our hope through continued RESEARCH, that we will someday see a CURES and in the meantime, see treatments continue to improve to enable these dear children to have the best quality of life possible. Miles has changed all our lives. We are so BLESSED to have Miles. His mother Amy and father Matthew love and cherish Miles, they provide him with excellent care. He is living PROOF to never give up and to always TRUST IN GOD! We are dedicated to doing all that we can to HELP.
