I really like this pen. Not too heavy, writes well, feels good in hand. Cap spins off in 3 twists. Also makes a nice "friend" in a pinch when other weapons are not allowed. I will be trying other S&W models based on this one, but this was a very good first choice.
Update after using this pen daily for awhile and being able to compare it to the newer SWPENMPBK: Pros: I like the feel of this pen better than the MP, the lines are more elegant in terms of the taper and grooves, and the defensive tip is sharper. The position of the clip also lets it sit lower in the pocket than the other model. Cons: screw off cap vs pop off (MP) that secures positively to the opposite end while writing. The cap on this model doesn't really stay put when writing, so you have to set it down. It also sometimes unscrews in my pocket. Pros on both models: durable finish, anodized aluminum body gives good weight and balance, love the way they write--very smooth.
