The unit I purchased from Sam's Club from Smoke Hollow has a little different configuration for shelving and tank storage, but the business end of the grill is the same as the one offered here. This unit is going to take some time to assemble and there are plenty of times when a second set of hands would be appreciated, so plan to spend a few hours. The instructions say you need a phillips head screwdriver. I had to use a a few different styles to get around some of the challenging angles putting in some parts requires. The bolt installs for the sear burner will require a small set of hands to fasten together.

Purchase an 80+ inch cover and you'll be fine.

Once assembly is completed, this is a very nice unit that will do pretty much anything you want. The firebox can double as a small charcoal grill, so you can use the entire surface of all four units for a large cookout. The charcoal grill has a nice ash trap that is easy to remove and dump. The warming rack is very nice compared to the standard stainless wire rack that comes with most grills. The sear burner is nice, but don't expect even heat across the entire cooking surface.

You should season the grill before it's used for the first time.

I got this grill at sams club for about half the price as advertised on here. I used high tempture gasket sealer around the smoke stack and a few seams. (after all this grill is made in china) I seasoned the grill after it was fully built by taking a rag with cooking oil on it and covering the whole grill and getting a low to med heat on the grill for about an hour. I touched up all the screws and nuts and bolts with clear coat gloss. I keep my grill in the shed and use it often at least once a month even in the winter. All in all a great grill if you take care of it. Check youtube for a list of mods. I also posted a video with mods and a walkthrough on there for people who are thinking about getting one. its the sideways video on youtube under the title smoke hollow 4-1 walkthrough with mods. I have enjoyed it. I will be getting a good greese cutter and cleaning the outside and inside and touching up with black high tempture paint at walmart this weekend.

Have had this Smoke Hollow charcoal/gas Grill w side burner for 3 years. The charcoal side has completely fallen apart, actually fallen in. Covered every winter but not in the summer. Where ever I had seen rust it was repainted with black grill paint. I took care of this. Back panel has completely rotted out. Went to grill something Saturday and the grate fell through and landed on the burners. Bending them down and breaking them off. Poor steel ?? Thin steel ? Would never purchase a Smoke Hollow product again. Called them and I was pretty much pushed aside. Too much money for this. Other grills I have purchased lasted twice as long and cost half as much. Rating of VERY poor craftsmanship.

Bought the grill two weeks ago from Sams club for $349. Much more convenient at that price, cant go wrong there. For the price listed here (700) I would find a higher quality grill. This grill is spot welded and not very thick material. It is pretty sturdy and does the job but I dont see it lasting too long in the elements (even with a grill cover). There are some things I did to make it function better like filling the welds in the fire box and putting a gasket in the smoker side to seal it better. Burners seem to be functioning well and the new design for the Propane tank support is much better than what is pictured. All in all for $350 I think it would be worth every penny.

I don't think even if they tried that this grill could have more pieces. I have worked on everything from 10 acre Walmart distribution centers and small block Chevy's to motorcycles and more. It is literally easier to assemble the small block motor than this grill. The instructions were crap with isometric views drawn by a first week drafting student. There is no clear definition in over half the illustrations. Instead of saying attach this to that, the instructions go off on tangents. Most people whom have assembled anything with step by step instructions before will be left wanting. I would have liked the assembly instructions to be shorter and straight to the point. If you do not have a Makita impact driver or some other electric means of screwing this thing together it will take you 3 hours. I have never paid to have something assembled but for this I would have gladly given another $50 than have spent 2 hours discovering more pieces that seem as though they never stop coming. The grill that this one is replacing is the same size, with the same features and it only took about 35 minutes to assemble.
With all that being said, the build is nice for something made in China. It could seal better on the smoker/charcoal side around the lid and door. I wouldn't have spent $550 for this, but at $400 it is a good grill and BBQ. The looks are in the eye of the beholder so I will leave that to personal opinion.
All in all once assembled and seasoned it is a solid 4 star grill/BBQ. Don't skip seasoning the grill. Do not cook on it until this is complete. Oil every surface on the inside and get it to temp for a minimum of 45 minutes, as you should with all new grills/BBQs. Skip this and it will not last.
After all that babble, down to what is important, the cooking. This is where this BBQ grill earns it's stars. Nice and even on the gas side, the charcoal misses the outer edge but it is not a big deal. Smoking works great.
