Independent, sexy heroine following her dreams? Check.
Let me tell you, Holly’s writing is smooth as butta. This chick can come up with 20 ways to say something. She makes me hate my own writing.
But back to the book...
Jenson King is a star. The kind of star who could have his pick of women. He’s also the kind of star whose past keeps him tethered right where he is - in limbo. He’s a mess. Really. He’s lost his house, his wife, his baby. He’s as broken as a condom on your 21st birthday. See what I mean? I suck at writing compared to Holly.
Lindsey is new in town. An aspiring music photographer with a bit of a sad past herself. She has her reasons as to why, when she stumbles upon Jenson, she’s unwilling to simply take advantage of his connections to reach her career goals.
And the more dang time they spend together, I mean ... things happen. Feelings grow. And in a well-written kind of way, too. Will their pasts drive them apart? Or will they find comfort and hope and a new future in each other?
Oh my god, I can’t believe I just ended this review with questions. *****
This is my second emotional book for the day and all I can say is wow. I am in total awe of this author. I have never read a book from this author and all I can say is how? How could I have missed an author that puts so much emotion in a story that you connect to, whether you love this genre or not it makes you stop and think how much people actually go through in life. This book puts in perspective that second chances is sometimes all someone needs to be put on the the path they should have always been put on. Learning to live again is one of the most difficult things people have to do in life and this book shows what that actually means. You will absolutely love Jensen in this book. He is broken when you meet him and why he is broken will make you understand why. The problem is being famous, a singer, doesn't give you a lot of down time when your fans are waiting for you to come back.Lindsey has her own past that she is dealing with. Lindsey is a photographer trying to make it on her own, but with a chance encounter with Jensen things start to change. Lindsey and Jensen's story is one that you won't forget. This is a very layered book. Each character has so much going on in their lives but you are never rushed in this book. Their journey takes the time that they need to find each other and themselves. Obstacles will be in the way, but how the overcome everything they are dealing with will be the key to see if they can handle being with each other. I don't know the best way to describe how I am feeling about this book, but to say that I could re read this book and not get bored with it. The story telling is more than what I was expecting. How the author used her words to describe what they were feeling at the time, any time in this book, was amazing. I don't know how to express that this author didn't leave a detail out that would destroy how you read this book. These two characters have so much to live for, but sometimes you just need to find your own way and if you can't leaning on someone might be the best solution.
I am in love with this author. The story was told just so simply with many layers for each character. This isn't a book that you can zoom right through. You will need to set a pace and make sure you know that even if you think you know how this will end its the middle that is the most important to this story. Everything that they worked from is what will matter more than anything as you read. I can't wait to read more from this author.
