Zack, Zipper and his folks are back with what might be the best story in this series, which began with the award-winning THE CROSSROADS and followed up with THE HANGING HILL. Now, in THE SMOKY CORRIDOR, Zack enters a new school and quickly discovers that the old building is haunted by ghosts and is reported to contain a vasts treasure, guarded by a zombie. Behind the school, there's even a graveyard that plays a role in the drama. I won't spoil the story for you, but rest assured you can count on nonstop action, lots of supernatural creatures and, as always with Grabenstein's stories, a great mystery--with good humor thrown in and a surprise or two. This book is written for middle-graders and young adults, but adults will love it, too.

A book worthy of 5 stars. Great for children and adults alike. There are ghosts and zombies in this book so I wouldn't recommend it for children that get scared easily.

Fun story in a series by Chris Grabenstein...this one follows Zach to his new school where he meets the ghosts of the Donnelly brothers who died long before in a fire in a smoky corridor. Add some buried treasure, a bully, a ghost of the school's founder, guardian ghosts, and zombies and it's the perfect formula for a teen novel. Read this before reading the others in the series and didn't feel lost. Enjoy!

My daughter enjoys this series, despite it being below her reading level at 13. A bit on the creepy side, which is what makes her like it!
