From the Back Cover
"Sometimes tradition is bad, such as when firefighters insist on going into hazardous atmospheres without breathing protection. Sometimes it's good, like the tradition of courage and public service that goes with volunteerism."
Smoky Days follows the Albion Volunteer Fire Department from before its founding in 1888 until present times, using information compiled from old run logs, local newspapers, fire department and public photos, and oral histories. Mark R. Hunter uses humor and insights from years of firefighting experience to bring history to life.
The Albion Volunteer Fire Department operates nine apparatus to protect 96 square miles in the center of Noble County, Indiana.
Proceeds of this book benefit the AFD.
