The recipes in this book are very easy to read and follow. I really enjoyed getting down to the nitty gritty without a lot of text in between the recipes. I'm not really interested in the science behind the recipe as in some health books. I don't have much time for reading. I just want to know what works and tastes good.

These recipes are great for newbies and experts alike who normally like to add their own little special touches when trying out new recipes. The Fruity Spinach smoothie was the first one I tried. My son couldn't tell that there were veggies hidden in there. That's a good sign for any parent wanting to get their children to have healthier options. The Energizing Vitamin Smoothie recipe also turned out well using my Vitamix. All of the veggies broke up well. I added a little hemp seed to it for extra protein.

Most ingredients can already be found in your local grocery store. Just make sure to add some wheat germ, flax seed, hemp seed, etc., to your grocery list and you'll be all set.

I saw this smoothie recipe book and had to get it. I just bought an awesome blender but didn't really know what I could do with it. Now I have this book and have been making smoothies all week. I haven't lost any weight yet but I feel a lot better, I have more energy and I can think clearly. I am making smoothies now 3 times a day for breakfast and snacks right now. I LOVE this book! I have it on my phone too so when I go to the store, I can pull up the ingredients I need for the next day. My roommates love borrowing my blender and this book, we have turned into a smoothie/juicing house! The book is well organized and laid out, the recipes aren't overly complicated and you don't need a ton of expensive equipment.

Hanna Getty has written a fine resource for creating delicious and healthy smoothies that are plant-based. She clarifies the various kinds of liquid meals that people may enjoy, but her focus is the smoothie. Like most people, my family and I need to cut out animal fats and to reduce our intake of sugar and salt. I like to feel I am having and providing a healthy breakfast. I also need to have quick and tasty options when all of us need to be on the run. This book has helped me find some great choices.
The author states that smoothies differ from other foods one can imbibe because they demand that whole vegetables and fruits are used. Because the entirety of the plant is included (sometimes even the rind), the result bursts with nutrients as well as wholesome and needed dietary fiber.
I am so pleased to be cutting back on cholesterol and fat while enjoying myself and pleasing my family. Until this book, I thought of smoothies as an alternative for those who don't like breakfast or as a somewhat healthier milkshake.
I learned a lot in reading this book, and my family and I are enjoying the recipes. It is especially helpful to have a section of recipes that tempt and interest children.

Too much bottled juice and soy milk for me. Chapter 2 seems to use a lot of bottled juice; 11/2 c cranberry juice, 1c apple juice, 1c orange, 1 c pomegranate, or fresh squeezed juice, plus some soy milk(especially in chapter 3 - soy milk and soy yogurt) in the recipes. Chapter 4 has lots of recipes, but to me a lot of stuff you my not have on hand (goes for other chapters too), plus some recipes call for some soaking over night. Chapter 5, same as chapter 4 but no nut soaking I could see. Chapter 5 o.k. just seems like a lot of seasonal fruit and more soy. I would use almond or coconut milk or even water. Chapter 7, yummy Chocolate and coconut, two of my favorites. Only thing is a lot of the recipes have ingredients I don't have( coco beans, date sugar, lucuma?, or even chocolate whey powder which I do have but most people won't). Chapter 8- back to the bottled juice which I don't buy and what would I substitute with, fresh? . Chapter 9 - I see more soaking plus some cooking for these recipes and ingredients the normal shopper(not one who is more conscious of very healthy eating) will have on hand. However, there's some good info on the ingredients used in this book in chapter 10.
I didn't have to pay for this so I'm not complaining. I just don't think this one is very practical for someone new to making smoothies. I've seen much easier smoothies to make with more commonly found ingredients found already in the home.

I purchased a Montel Williams Health Master in May 2012. I purchased the overpowered blend er so I could create weight losing smoothie. I have been using the blend er on a regular basis, but have not been able to use it for the purpose intended, because the company was charging additional for the weight lost receipts, which I thought came with the blender . This book provided me with the receipts I thought I was getting when I made my Initial investment of the over-priced blender. Now I can create smoothies with an understanding of what each smooth ie will do to my body.
