At first this seems like it’s going to be a simple action/romance, but then it begins to develop layers. The reader wonders why the squad took in an unknown woman with amnesia and trained her to be a part of their team, and no good explanation is given at first. I thought there must be a lot more to the story, and boy, is there! I can’t say what without giving spoilers, but I can say that I wish the second book in this series was already out. It took me a day or so to get my mind out of Phoenix’s world, and I would have loved to stay in it.
The action is amazing, and since the author is a personal trainer, she seems to know what she’s talking about. The only complaint I have is that the book's cover could be improved. The girl on the cover looks like she could still be in high school and playing with her dad's gun. That's definitely not the mental picture a reader gets of Phoenix. In the book, her age is given as twenty-nine, and the girl on the cover looks like a kid.
Cover aside, if you enjoy novels filled with lots of street fighting, intrigue, and some truly titillating scenes that stop just short of the act (I swear it’s book foreplay!), you’ll love this book! Please, Ms. Ramsay, hurry up with book two!
Phoenix was an extremely likable character and very easy to sympathize with. Her feeling of loss, confusion, and uncertainty of where she truly belonged made me hope for her to finally find her “home.” The chapter where her memory returns kept me on the edge of my seat, and after that, I couldn’t get to the end fast enough to see how it all plays out. A wonderful thriller that I would highly recommend! Looking forward to book two already!
Phoenix is a compelling character. And despite her tough talk, she’s got plenty of heart and soul. I was pulling for her all the way and was surprised at the interesting turn of events.
I didn’t know this was the first book in a planned series and will have to wait for the sequel to find out what happens next. But it was definitely a fun read.
There were plenty of twists, including one toward the end that I didn’t see coming. With that being said, some of the flashbacks were pretty confusing. It would take me a minute and a reread to make sure I actually read what I read.
All-in-all this was a really good book. If you like this genre, this should be at the top of your to-read list.
This is a thriller done right. Get it.

A mission that involves her posing as the wife of General Cobra, her boss who appears not to have much faith or time for her, opens a fresh lot of twists and turns to the story.
A suspenseful military action thriller, this book is well-written with great characters, is fast-paced and makes for a good read.
It is now down to the second book in the series to discover what happens next.
From the outset, the writing style is fast, short sentences and wham into the action and story. It centres on Phoenix, who is part of an elite squad that are meant to tackle 'those difficult jobs'. Things are not that simple, however.
I like a strong female protagonist and Phoenix suits the role. There is sexual tension and mysteries about the past - and the unexpected.
Overall, this is a good piece of fiction and would be enjoyable for those who like this genre.
Worth a look.
If you’re looking for a roller-coaster ride, look no further, this is only book one, and I for one can’t wait for more.
Follow the elite Alpha squad. A group of well trained, lethal agents considing of two men and two women. Pheniox is the female lead and the exception to the rule as she isn't a traditionally trained solider. Don't let this fool you though she is still one tough cookie.
An enjoyable read with a sizzling romance entwined within.
Ms. Ramsay did an incredible job weaving this story and I was mesmerized right to the end. I seriously couldn’t put this book down and I can’t wait for the sequel to come out!
This novel is a perfect example of how excellent cinematic-worthy writing can engage and hypnotize a reader whom wouldnt normally life the style of book. This is not the genre or type of novel I would normally read at all and I likely wouldnt even watch a movie of this type HOWEVER, the writing, twists, intrigue, excitement and descriptions captivated me and I ended up absolutely loving the book!!!
This author has what it takes to be great! her way of words is just what an avid reader wants to read!
Well done!!!! You have a new fan :-)
I can’t wait to read the sequel!
