Selecting a Snap Gauge on Amazon.com
A snap gauge, or snap gage, is a C-shaped gauge that is used to measure the outside dimension of an object. It usually has adjustable anvils for taking a range of measurements. Anvil styles vary from tool to tool and some gauges have interchangeable anvils. The measuring faces are generally made of hardened steel or, for improved wear resistance, tungsten carbide. Snap gauges are available in inch or metric ranges. While many snap gages are used for comparative measurements and go/no-go testing, others have a dial indicator or digital readout that displays a reading. This type is sometimes called a snap meter. A snap gauge is typically used in manufacturing, metalworking, and machining operations.
