I've taken the containers directly from the fridge to the microwave and have never had any problems. However, I would advise against putting the LIDS in the microwave. I did that once and the lid came out a bit warped (it still locks fine, though). For the same reason I am not putting the lids in the dishwasher any longer. The containers themselves are dishwasher safe. I've placed them in the bottom as well as in the top rack and haven't had any cracks or chips. However, to be on the safe side, I am now following the manufacturer's recommendation to put them in the top rack only.
As others have pointed out, this set is manufactured in Korea. While I would have preferred containers made in the U.S., I also have to watch my household expenses, and this was by far the cheapest multi-container set I could find online or at our two big local retailers.
All in all I'm happy with this product and will buy another set in the near future to replace the rest of the plastic containers in my household. In my experience, foods keeps fresh for longer periods of time. And the biggest advantage is that they don't deteriorate and don't absorb odors.
I buy a lot of bagged fruits and veggies each week for my 3 year old son to snack on, and I hate keeping them in the re-sealable plastic bags they come in. These containers are perfect for that sort of thing...apples slices, baby carrots, broccoli, lunchmeat, shredded cheese...they've really cleaned up the messyness of my fridge and help keep my food fresher longer. I don't plan on taking them out of the house, I purchased a couple of lunch boxes for my husband to take leftovers to work, so I can't comment on how well they travel. The glass is thick though, so I would think you'd be ok taking a dish to and from work. The lids are thick, and I haven't had any issue with the snaps breaking off.
So far all the sizes have been perfect for the things I need them for. If I find I need any larger containers, then I'll absolutely buy some single Snapware pieces. Overall, a great product and I'm so glad to be rid of all the junky plastic pieces!
Quality seems good so far. Some reviews may mention breakage, but keep in mind glass can be temperature sensitive. Going from the fridge directly to the microwave can put stress on glass, or other items for that matter, and breakage may not be quality related. Use discretion.
Nesting feature is ok. The pieces do fit together, but they sometimes get stuck in each other. Nothing a hard pull can't take care of though. Lids however do not nest.
Overall, a good set to get started. May need two if you are a regular cook.
I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the glass is too easy to chip around the edges (3 so far). One of the pieces chipped when I was just trying to separate the two bowls that were stacked. Another chipped when putting other dishes in the drying rack with it. So far they are still usable, but I would be much happier if the glass were someone more chip-resistant...not sure if that is doable or not. The only other minor annoyance is that mold can grow under the part that makes the seal between the glass and the lid - but that is easily cleaned by popping the seal out while washing. Overall, I'd still buy again.
