Overall Opinion: This book tacked some heavy and tough subjects -- mental health and foster care. It wasn't the type of romance that gives you a toothache, but it was sweet in its own way. I rooted for this couple, and I felt that they had a good connection. Plus! We got a shy non-manwhore rock star! He had only been with one woman close to 10 years prior to the story! He was intimidated by the h's beauty, and I found that really cute and endearing. Overall, I liked the story.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is April and Beau's story. Beau is a drummer for a famous rock band that has been suffering from severe depression since he was a child. The band gets asked to play at a benefit, and this is where he meets April. He has minimal experience with women and wants to remain closed off due to his mental health status, but there is something about April that he cannot forget. April is instantly intruiged by him and tries to get him to open up to her. They dance around things for a little bit, but eventually start a relationship and fall in love. There are some big issues with Beau's mental health and life in general, but they work through them and get their HEA.

POV: This alternated between April and Beau's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I felt like it flowed well.

Instalove: No. It was quick, but I felt like it took a sufficient amount of time for those stronger feelings to develop.

H rating: 4 stars. Beau. He was pretty damaged, but he had a good heart and really wanted love in his life.

h rating: 5 stars. April. She was a pretty perfect woman.

Once again LL Collins has another 5+ star read on her hands. Snared may be listed as a stand alone but this reader recommends that you read book 1 in the Jaded Regret series Sentenced first so as to not have spoilers if you decided to read the first book and fully understand the relationship of the band. We first met Jaded Regret in Sentenced and what I thought about Beau was totally not what we got. Tissues are necessary as the author's warning states, this book contains issues that may be difficult for some readers.

Beau's childhood was spent living in the Foster care system which wasn't easy. He finds that playing the drums help quiet the demons in his life and give him a sense of freedom from the pain. Because of the way he grew up he doesn’t believe in happily ever after or that he deserves to be loved.

April has lived a privileged life with parents who love her. She doesn’t know what it fells like to live a life without caring parents, like the children in the welfare system. Once she meets Beau there is some type of connection but how can she get him to open up to her when he is so quiet.

Will his demons keep them apart or will the connection they have be enough to get him to open up?

Right from the start I was not able to put this book down. Beau is not what I was expecting and I was shocked over a few things, especially his childhood. We already knew he was in a foster home but what transpired to why was not expected. The author did an awesome job in keeping the storyline real. Yes, there were a couple parts that were predictable but the way the author delivered it had me in tears and even though I knew it was coming I couldn’t prevent the emotions from happening.

Author’s Disclaimer - This book contains topics that could be difficult for some readers, including but not limited to mental illness, mental abuse, and suicide. Please take these sensitive topics into consideration before choosing to read this book.

With that out of the way, this book touched my soul and has affected me profoundly. The content is so sensitive but the author delivers the story with class and has you reaching for more. If I could, I would give this book 10 stars!!!!

One of my favorite lines: “If all you do is think about the past, you’re never going to be able to write your future.”

Beau Anderson witnessed a traumatic event when he was a child, and endured horrible mental abuse at the hands of his mother. Eventually he was placed in foster care - even though he no longer is in the foster care system, he has a hard time keeping those experiences and his past from seeping into his present. There are very few people he lets in and does not trust easily; his sister and his band family are the only people he is comfortable around.

April Knight grew up with loving parents, has a huge heart, and is willing to open it up to all. Because of her mother’s past, she is drawn to the foster care field for her career and is trying to make a difference in the lives of children in the foster care system.

April is drawn to Beau and would like to help him escape his past; but will Beau be able to listen to his heart and not his head, and allow April in.

I love the characters in this series; I was able to connect with each one and feel their emotions. It was so fabulous to see Johnnie and Bex in this book and seeing how their lives are coming along.
