Recently purchased 2 Snazzy Travel Chairs with the hope of using them for my 18 months old grandchildren in shopping carts. It is advertised to fit a baby/toddler/child up to 35 lbs.
The item is well made but it is SMALL......I cannot see how this device could fit any baby/toddler over 9--12 months old. Also, a toddler can easily take the shoulder straps off their shoulders and stand up.
This item should be targeted towards babies in the 6-9 month category.
If it was manufactured to be sized for an older child , and the shoulder straps more secure, it would be great.
I'm honestly stunned at all of the positive reviews and can only image that they are either paid reviews by the company or parents who only used this harness on upholstered chairs, where the chair itself provides some friction. It could work really well on chairs if you sewed a square of grippy shelf liner to the bottom, but this type of design flaw should be addressed by the manufacturer rather than consumers. I could see how this would work reasonably well in a shopping cart, though I don't see how it's that much better than the belt that is already provided (as long as your baby is able to sit independently).
Those parents who praise this items use for flights should be aware that the FAA and Transport Canada ban the use of "belly belts" that secure a lap infant to the parent. In the event of severe turbulence your child would serve as your own personal airbag -- a scary thought, and the reason why my son flies in his car seat. Why do European airlines insist on the use of "belly belts" during takeoff and landing?Read more ›
I've used it several times in the city where I live if I'm in a place that doesn't have a high chair, or if I go to a friends' house who doesn't have small children. My baby is happy to sit by herself and really loves sitting in this.
I can't recommend this product highly enough, especially if you travel to international locations!
