Finally! An easy to use machine that can remove heavier snow. Responding to the need for an easy-to-use machine that could tackle heavier snowfall on large driveways and walkways, Snow Joe developed the Snow Joe 622, a larger electric snow thrower that delivers the power of a gas machine with the convenience of an electric unit. Driven by a 13 amp motor, the Snow Joe Ultra moves up to 800 pounds of snow per minute. Its durable, 4 blade rotor, constructed of heavy grade steel, cuts a full 19" wide and 11" deep with each pass, clearing 2150 square feet per hour.
In addition to its hard-working plowing capacity, the Snow Joe Ultra features an adjustable discharge chute that rotates a complete 180 degrees to provide full control over the snow discharge direction. The chute deflector can also be adjusted to control the height of the snow stream. Easy-glide pivot wheels make the Snow Joe Ultra easy to turn and maneuver on each pass. The scraper blade at the base of the unit efficiently scrapes the snow clear to the pavement.
The Snow Joe Ultra 622, is powered electrically, making it effortless to start and maintain. No gas, oil, or tune-ups are necessary. The unit is ETL-approved and carries a full two year warranty.

I understand that any machine can break. What I don't accept is Snow Joe's business practice of not having critical replacement parts during critical seasons. It is a waste of money to invest in their product(s).
It arrived faster than predicted so I had it for our New Year's 3-day snowstorm. This probably wasn't the best test, as we were away for 24 hours, so when I got back and used the snowblower, there was wet, plowed up heavy snow, and this is a light duty machine. It was slower clearing what the plows built up, and at one point I pushed some snow over with a shovel to make it less deep. Still easier than picking it up with the shovel and carrying it to throw it! For the two storms since then I was able to start sooner and it worked great.
It does strain in heavy snow. You can hear the engine pitch change. I change the angle slightly and work my way through it. Once in a while there is a slight burning or hot smell, but it goes away and hasn't affected operation. Of course, you have to keep track of the electric cord, which might drive some people crazy, but I ran an electric lawn mower for a long time and am used to it. Reviewers recommended the 12-gauge extension cord for more power so I got that. Some said the Snow Joe doesn't throw the snow far enough - I find I wish it didn't throw as far as it does! I invariably plaster a wall or window with the stuff here and there and need to be aware of the direction it is throwing all the time. Of course, my driveway is small as I said.
So I find it easy to run - except in plowed up heavy snow when I didn't get to it soon - and it performs well for what I need. It is saving my back over the long haul. Pushing and pulling it around is still exercise, mind you, just not as bad for the back.
It was easy to assemble - in fact it seemed like it was slightly more assembled than the instructions indicated, as if they are assembling it more than they used to when they created the instructions. It is light and easily put in and taken out of the shed, but it has enough power moving and throwing the snow for my purpose. So far so good!
The plastic body is really nice when negotiating around cars. No worries about denting body panels. I'm running the unit from a 20 amp circuit with a 50' 14 gauge cord. It seems to be plenty powerful.
The only down side that I've found so far is the workmanship. One of the wheels came loose and slid around on the axel that runs from one side of the unit to the other behind the throwing auger. I used a small hose clamp on the axel to prevent the wheel from sliding. I'm disappointed that the design wasn't better thought out, but the minor inconvenience is not enough for me to not give five stars.
