I'm a 60 year old woman with a bad back and not a lot of muscle -- my body bending and weight lifting is very limited. It is not likely that I have the physical ability to demand greater than this product was intended.
Great concept that development appears to have been abandoned and remains in the infancy stage. This product lacks the strength to handle anything other than light, powdery snow using a straight push and shoot motion. Using the scoop, lift and toss to the side is not good for the back. The turning motion will increase the likely hood of pulling a muscle as it did me. This motion also turns and weakens the handle which completely gave out (bent and broke) on the 4th use.
This is not a quality product - very cheap and poorly made. I've used this product 4 times (immediately following the snow fall in Vermont) to shovel a foot path that is 20' x 2' and a deck that is 10' x 16'. If that is what can be expected, then it should be marketed as a disposable, limited use at a fraction of the cost. See images!
This was not a case to take up with the manufacturer under a warranty claim. It is only a month old. They are aware, they know how this product is made. That was about alerting other consumers that this is truly one of the worst-bad buys out there. WOW!
My main issue is the "wear strip" on the bottom. It certainly wears. Mine lasted about 3 days of shoveling before enough of the aluminum wore off that it lost it's grip and fell off. Aluminum is a very soft material so I don't know why they thought that was a good design choice, but hey, I'm just an engineer, so what do I know.
The pros are that the poly scoop seems good and tough, so you don't have to worry about it cracking like other cheap shovels. The handles are also pretty nice and seem robust enough.
Overall, I would NOT recommend this product to anyone except little old ladies that need something to clear their steps off with.
Light weight. The wiggly second handle takes some getting used to. Snow didn't stick to this shovel. Worked fine for light fluffy snow, powdery wind packed snow, and frozen brick-like snow (expect to use more force pushing / shoving shovel into this kind of material). -10 F, 20 F, snow didn't stick. Snow slides off easily.
Took seconds to assemble. The wing nut on the handle is a little inconvenient. Bumped my body a few times tossing snow to the side before kind of got a rhythm without running into the wing nut. Could do without that.
Overall, I went from shoveling in 2 hr sessions to 3-4 hr sessions. Cleared my driveway in one day instead of two. I have so much fun shoveling snow (granted, I just like shoveling snow) I widened out the driveway and shoveled the grass. If the wind fills it back in, I'll move it again.
Shoveling 2+ hrs works the shoulders ... a lot, ha ha. Just remember to even out the work by switching hand positions on the handles. Get one side of the body too strong, pain can result over time. Every so often, just switch hands on the handles. Give one side a break and work the other. Have fun.
I have fun with this shovel.

The poor quality construction when you pick up heavy snow the blade wobbles side to side and I give the longevity around 1 or 2 more snow falls before it breaks.
So the price is the only good thing about this product, the design of the flex handle is a cheap design.
That said, this reminds me of the heft handle but for that price you get the whooooole shovel!
Good quality overall, shovel portion is on par, handle tho above the extra handle seems a wee bit on the light-material side.
Again, ya get what cha pay for, I'm looking for a winner here. It's also a much smaller blade for sure than most snow shovels.
-easy to maneuver
-very easy to lift up snow without overexerting yourself
-metal edge will protect the plastic from deterioration
-too lightweight, cannot get under packed snow
-narrow, which helps get into tight spaces and between vehicles easier but will need to do more passes to clear snow
-shallow scoop means that you won't be able to lift high volumes of snow per shovel, so again this will add more time and effort
-metal edge gets caught easy in every crack on the sidewalk
-not as sturdy as I would like it to be, only slightly wobbly but that's not a surprise for a shovel you assemble rather than one that comes as one complete piece
Overall I think this shovel is great and I am happy I bought it. In my experience, I have never found the one shovel that will do everything. I have another shovel which is heavy and fully metal for pushing lots of snow and getting under the packed parts. This Snow Joe is great for lifting that pile up the snow mountain and for getting the steps done and the sidewalk. A good partner for my other shovel. It is a good only shovel if you have a small area you are trying to keep clear.
