My son is 3 and they fit him well - they extend all the way to his elbow.
With the crazy winter we had, she used them a lot and she never complained about hands being cold.
The cuff material is soft and stretchy and thick so that it is very comfortable and warm.

Product Description

These are the original Patented SnowStoppers Mittens. It's the elegantly simple SnowStopper Sleeve that makes them different. The SnowStopper Sleeve STOPS the SNOW from getting in to the wrists between the coat and mitten and stops the mittens from falling off. The SnowStopper Sleeve is worn under the coat so there is no bulky and unsightly material covering the coat. You put them on just before the coat and they STAY ON. They keep the HANDS, WRISTS and ARMS extra warm. WATERPROOF - Fully waterproof lining inside. THINSULATE© Insulation Your child will stay warmer, play outside longer and have more fun in the snow. Tough Grip Palm makes them great for Skiing and Snowboarding too. They're kid tested and mother approved for hours of fun in the snow. * * These mittens make a great GIFT. * * Did this ever happen to you? You spend 45 minutes getting the kids dressed to play in the snow, and then finally get them outside. But before long you hear, "I'm cold", and your child is looking at his or her hands and wrists. You see that the mittens have fallen off or there is snow between the coat and mittens. In either case, your child's hands and wrists are uncomfortably cold now. You wipe away the snow, but the hands and wrists are already cold and wet, and it's just going to happen again. You end up with the kids back inside the house in less time than it took to get them dressed to go out. It won't happen again. That's our pledge to you.

I went to the snowstopper website and found measurements to take for these mittens, so I knew they would fit my 3-year-old's hands. Indeed, they are a perfect, snug fit, which is what I wanted so she can pick things up without a lot of extra mitten getting in the way. I also ordered the next size up, just to be sure, and they were too big (as they're supposed to be) so I'll save them for next year.

We live in a very cold, snowy climate, and my daughter used to be able to stay outside only about 10 minutes because her hands would be freezing. All our other mittens were either too thin or kept coming off or weren't waterproof. The first time we used these mittens, she stayed out for an hour! I finally get to go outside! And they didn't fall off once! They are waterproof, but the material is so soft that she can still use her hands. Most waterproof mittens are stiff and bulky. Plus there's a grippy part on the palm. The 'sock' part that goes up the arm is also soft and cozy.

They are maybe slightly harder to put on than other mittens, but not much. Now that my daughter knows how much she loves them, she's extra willing to cooperate too! I just tell her to hold her thumb out so I can nudge it into the thumb hole. Bottom line is these mittens are amazing! The price is a steal! They will change your outdoor experiece completely from a constant cold struggle into warm, carefree fun. I love them. If you want to measure, here is their size chart:

Mitten measurements from fingertip to wrist are as follows:

Xtra Small 4"

Small 4-1/2"

Medium 5"

Large 5-1/2"

These measuring instructions were exactly right for us. Just as a side note, I found the pink to be less vibrant than it appeared on my monitor, but honestly they could be any color and I'd love them because of now perfectly they work! Still a nice pink color.

Anytime there is snow we try to take our kids out to enjoy it (ages 3.5 and 1.5), but the biggest hurdle we have encountered have been their hands. Most of the mittens we have are not waterproof, requiring constant changing and even those that are allow snow to get in and/or fall off. I ordered these on Friday with overnight shipping and received them Saturday. We couldn't be happier with this purchase. I had no problem getting them on my 3.5 y/o, including the thumb. I just put them on before the coat. To be clear, these are for snow play, not everyday use, but they are invaluable if you want your child to enjoy the snow. We were able to play in the snow today for well over an hour with no problems at all. She was able to really put her hands in the snow, making snow balls, etc., which she has never been able to do before. I highly recommend! I even ordered a second pair for my 18 m/o.

I cannot give 5 stars because these have not been worn yet, but if they do what they are supposed to do, they will certainly be a five star product for me. The large is only 1/4" longer than the medium, so when in doubt, upsize. These are for a 4.5 year old with small hands, and the large will fit likely through the winter months. He loves the feel of them--always a plus because if he didn't , he would not wear them

These gloves were awesome. My 2 year old could not pull them off and since the sock part went up to the elbow it kept her hands snow free. I didn't notice them wet on the inside at all. Made sure they were dry completely between outings. These gloves were really a life savor since she couldn't get them off. they were easy to get on since they are the "mitt" style only one finger to worry about getting in a hole. I will be purchasing these again if the ones from last year dont fit!

Before purchasing these gloves, me and my wife must have bought six pairs of gloves for our 18 month old son. He managed to get all of them off by pulling, biting etc. Not with these... these are the only gloves which stay on his hands. I would say it takes about 20 seconds more to put these on, but if you have a son or daughter that loves the challenge of pulling gloves off, these are for you

My 3-year-old daughter was ecstatic to get these mittens! She wore them immediately to the playground that was covered in snow, and played in snow and threw snowballs for over an hour but yet the her hands stayed warm and soft through it all. I would most definitely recommend these mittens for toddlers. (I got size medium)

I do like these mittens and especially the fact that knitted area comes way up under the coat sleeve which is great for snow play. Only rated them 4 stars as I had to reorder a large for my 2 year old as the small were very very small. Also, at that point I could only get the black color.

They need to just list the inches for sizing but these are the best mittens you are going to find for your child that actually protects them from the elements during the winter. They have a printout to size your child more accurately at their website. Hand outlines you can have them match their hands up to.

EDIT: Just printed it off and the sheet is not to scale but they have a ruler on the print out for reference. I will save you all a step. According to their print out and included ruler, the sizes have the following length from wrist to fingertip:

XS = 3 7/8 inches
S = 4 3/8 inches
M = 4 7/8 inches
L = 5 3/8 inches
XL = 6 inches

Note = It is quite possible the actual gloves are closer to even measurements (4, 4.5, 5, 5.5) and they make the pictures a little smaller to ensure you leave some room in the mitten. I just measure the small I recently purchased and it was, in fact, 4 inches. So, they are encouraging you to leave some growing room when sizing is all.

Also, keep in mind that their mitten sizes and gloves sizes are completely different. I have included sizing information on my review of their gloves as well. GL!
