The Books by Amy Romine are exciting, romantic, moving and touching. You won't want to miss a single book of this Action Mystery writer. Trust me you won't be disappointed.
I've read this a month ago to get into the Christmas spirit. And it worked. The setting, the characters, the circumstances that the characters were in are just perfect. I think this is one of the sweetest holiday story I read and it makes me feel giddy thinking of the future awaiting the couple. I could somewhat relate to Kevin's fears, about his life as a Marine, because I have a brother who's also in the service and there are times when he thinks he's got no other choice but to serve his country until his dying breath. And there was also a time when he was kind of afraid of having a lovelife or be in a relationship. Such scenarios are just too sentimental for me and this book bears that emotion. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the story until the end.
Quinn and her younger brother were separated after an accident killed their parents when they were very young. When she was 18, Quinn started searching for her brother. Her search led her to a military base where she meets Gunnery Sergeant Kevin McCaluson.
Kevin (Gunny) McCaluson is at a crossroads in his life. He has to decide if he wants to move to his next assignment in Indonesia and leave the only family he knows, or if he wants to retire from the military and find something else to do.
When Quinn tells Gunny her story, he decides to help her on her quest. They have one adventure after another running down leads all over the country. By Christmas Eve, they have run out of leads and end up calling off the search for the time being. Will they have a happy Christmas when it’s such a short time away, or will they be cold, alone and without hope for the holiday?
I didn’t know what to expect when the author asked me to read this book. It was very well written, though the strong language during the sex scenes surprised me because there was none leading up to that and I wasn’t expecting it. It didn’t take anything away from the wonderful story and surprise ending though. I do wish it could have been longer. I wasn’t ready for it to end.
All in all, a very nice read! Thank you for letting me review it for you.
Anyway Christmas Eve rolls around and Quinn is ready to throw in the towel, but come on its Christmas and there is always a Christmas miracle right?
The book is oked written. I kind of wish some of the flow was better. There were times that there were awkward pauses, but for the most part it was a pretty good read. I kind of wish there was more though. The story just felt short and like we were missing things here and there.
