About the author

Teresa is a wife, mom of three, teacher of languages, and writer. She has lived all over the US and in Spain and Peru. She began her adoption-specific language CD/handbook series in 1999, two years after she and her family adopted a son from Russia. ('Adopting from Russia, a Language and Parenting Guide'; 'RUSH Into English, Russian to English for Children'; 'Adopting from China ~ Mandarin'; and 'Adopting from Latin America'). Teresa has taught in northern Arizona for 23 years. She is an advocate for children and speaks regularly on the topic of adoption. Her newest book, 'Snowflakes, a Flurry of Adoption Stories by, for and about Children and Teens,' is a compilation of over 200 stories that gives views of and feelings about adoption before, during, and after children join their forever families. Her goal is for her latest book to reach all who have a connection with and/or interest in adoption so that they can read about adoption from the perspective of young adoptees and their families. It's an excellent resource for prospective foster and adoptive parents as well as all who work with children. One of her favorite quotations is by Goethe: "Whatever you can, or dream you can, begin it; boldness has genius, power, magic in it."

- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2009I started reading this truly amazing book and I could not put it down until I finished. The personal experiences from all sides of adoption were so inspirational. I laughed, shed tears, and felt joy as I read the pages. Snowflakes: A Flurry of Adoption Stories is a must read. It expresses in words that families come in many forms and from many places, it is the love that binds them. Five stars are not enough - This book will enlighten and inpire you. Teresa, Katie, and Paul did a magnificent job of expressing all aspects of adoption. A heartfelt thanks to all that shared their experiences. This book is for all who appreciate the family unit and understand that all families are unique.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2010most of the entries read as if they were written by the kids themselves. a few seem like the parent(s) had an influence in what was said. but, all in all, a nice collection of entries from kids touched by the loss and the re-birth of adoption.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2017A wide variety of adoption experiences covered and addressed to different readers. Written by various ones involved in adoption. A treasure of stories to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2010I really enjoyed reading this book, it was great to hear the thoughts and opinions of the children themselves as well as the variety of adoption stories. There are stories of domestic foster/adopt, medically vulnerable infants, and overseas adoptions. Lots of helpful information, lots of laughs and giggles, some tears, but all in all a great book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2011I purchased this book for my two daughters who we adopted from Russia. It is a wonderful book filled with stories from children and adults. My daughters looked forward to hearing the stories. A must buy for families with adopted children.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2016I made good use of Teresa Kelleher's Spanish language book for adoptive parents traveling to adopt their child and it was very useful! As a result of a letter I sent her, I was asked to be a contributor on a project she was working on - this book! She was wonderful and does all she can to promote and support positive adoption experiences. This collection by Ms. Kelleher is a very beautiful, honest, heartfelt sharing of adoption experience stories.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2016My wife and I have been reading this wonderful book in preparation for our adoption. It has been a joy and delight to read the many heart warming stories from many different types of adoption experiences, both domestic and international. We especially appreciate the authenticity of these experiences as the book is a touching compilation of real stories shared by adoptees (children and teens) and their families. We wholeheartedly recommend reading this book before, during and after adoption as a rich resource for yourself, your child, family and friends.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2009This book is a true treasure! Every page brought a smile, a tear, or a sense of recognition of some inherently human yearning. The entries are unpredictable and utterly authentic, giving voice to many different experiences in the adoption process. I'm neither an adoptive parent nor an adoptee, but I read the book for its human interest. I think anyone with a penchant for the social sciences would find it compelling and readable. I also gave it as a gift to friends who've adopted three children from Russia as well as my sister, who is a foster parent.
