The Cave by Snugpak is a spacious and functional 4 person tent. Constructed out of the same high end fabrics and components as well as utilizes the DAC Featherlite NSL anodized poles with press fit connectors that have made our other tents so well-known and respected. Unlike the Scorpion 2, Scorpion 3 and the Bunker, the Cave is not a Fly-First Pitch type Design. Due to its size and design the Inner Tent needs to be set up first and then the fly, if desired. The Cave has two access doors and when the Fly is used, each access door has a vestibule. Note, each vestibule is different. One has a single zip centered, the other has two zips which can create a nice wind blocked entrance if only one portion is used to gain access.

The Cave is rated at 4 people, you can fit them but its tight. At 6'2" and 250 lbs. 4 of me will fit but in a head to toe set up. I bought this for 2 tall adults and our large dog. The Rainfly creates one large and one smaller vestibules that you can leave your packs and boots in rather than bring them fully inside the tent, but keeping them out of the weather. With a "Footprint" or ground Tarp, your gear will be in the Vestibules and not sitting on the ground. You can see the Large Vestibule in the picture above, note the grass under the Rainfly, this is the area you have to store gear outside the tent, but out of the weather. The picture shows the Main entrance and Large Vestibule. What you cannot see is the Secondary entrance and Second Vestibule, which is located on the opposite side. It is much smaller, however 3-4 packs take up a lot of room and completely blocking your main entrance is poor planning.
The Cave is from Snugpak, made the UK it says. Yes BUY AMERICAN when you can. Snugpak is British, they make Military and Spec Ops gear and it is top quality regardless of where its manufactured. Their gear is distributed in the U.S.A. by PROFORCE EQUIPMENT. http://www.proforceequipment.com/product-details.php?id=418&catid=25 retails here for $579, $445 with prime on Amazon. Go to YouTube, this video is a little long and strange but if your spending $500 on a tent, its worth it to watch, and fast forward. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITVfQN3pmKo&list=PLWqkXFlcsP9hpgoTetSkIJ1qjgKJwtyA5&index=20
The tent couldn't be easier to set up, there are 5 poles, 2 green ends, 2 black ends and one grey end, they each slide into their color marked sleeves, black in black. green in green and grey into the Rainfly IF you chose to use it. You don't have to, the tent is Free Standing for summer use. Comes with 25 HD aluminum stakes you use 23 to tie it down if you use all points. This will stand up to the strongest winds if you tie it down properly. The Rainfly has 4 closeable vents, helps keep some heat in in the cold months but lets the moisture out too. If your a beginner cold weather camper, read up on condensation. Personal note, read everything you can from reputable sources, knowledge weighs nothing. You will be surprised how often seemingly irrelevant bits of information will pop right out of your memory when you need them.
If your a hiker this is considered heavy at over 11 pounds, but that's for everything it comes with. Compacts down into its bag to about 8"x18", more or less round. If your a car camper, drive to your site, its not going to be a problem at 11+ pounds. If your hiking miles or are just not a good hiker, its heavy, but remember, its a 4 person tent, not a solo or 2 person. SNUGPAK makes 1-4 person tents, I would expect them to be no less awesome.
In my use the tent can handle some heavy winds and was completely water proof in torrential down pours , I did apply a coat of nikwax for UV protection on the fly. I appreciated its ventilation in the tropics, surprisingly cool and bug proof once you open them all up and the front vestibule is a nice touch to keep boots and rug sacks dry.
Bedding: Again afyer much research we chose the Coleman Queen Airbes cot ( but we were not sure it would fit at all) We set it up in the house to make sure everything was as expected. ( Photos of that are included as well)
There is little walking room as you can see once the air bed is inside BUT we are OK with the lack of space for comfort. With the vestibule there should be plenty of room for needed space.
Under the cot also provides much needed storage.
Sleeping bag- We chose the Tenton Sports Sleeping Bag ( Queen size)
