Originally released in 1986. Remastered in 2002. May 1986 saw the release of So, and within three months the album and its singles had topped the charts in both the UK and USA. "Sledgehammer" was both a huge hit musically and as a video, charting new territory in the relationship between contemporary film and video work, and music. Produced by Dan Lanois (U2).

The live tracks are the complete concert of what was known as the P.O.V. video that cut out many tracks of the full show and had questionable audio mastering (but hey, many us of originally owned it on VHS - mine was on....gulp....BETAmax). However this audio is a complete remix and remastering and is the entire Athens show. This version of Gabriel's band, including the ever-present Tony Levin on bass and David Rhodes on guitar along with keyboardist David Sancious and the incomparable Manú Katché on drums, is a living, breathing machine. They give the "So" material eloquent renderings but it is the older Gabriel material that is rebuilt in this new band's image of proto-techno-world-jazz-rock. Gems like "Games Without Frontiers", "No Self Control" and "Lay Your Hands On Me" overflow with energy and creative arranging that allow each musician to show off their muscle within the matrix of an insanely-talented band led by a fearless leader.
I would have given this 5 stars, except for one reason. When I opened my package, multiple pages of the book were ripped. I was disappointed, because I wanted to dig right in, but I thought I paid $100 for this box set, I should have one in pristine condition. When I tried to return it, amazon notified me that my only option was a refund because the package was sold out. I decided to just live with it because I wanted to experience everything and had been looking forward to it from the day I preordered it, but honestly it left a bad taste in my mouth that I remember (and have to retell) every time I show a friend the box set and they flip through the book.
So has good music, strong lyrics and wonderful musicianship from the rhythm section (Tony Levis and Manu Katché)apart from showcasing Gabriel`s more mature songwriting and voice...I recommend this recording very much
(what woman doesnt like that one?) and my fave"sledgehammer" which debuted the same time as that ground-
breaking show( SO underloved by ******* execs) all sound new & fresh every time I hear them! What a great listening experience :)
