Once in a great while an author comes along that can write a story that kids can relate to, and A.J. Cosmo certainly has with his book, Soaked.
What in the world would make Aiden throw a water balloon at Jacob? Friendship, of course. This young character in Soaked shows a great deal of character in standing up to the school bully in an effort to save his friend, Ben, from a certain soaking. Life then takes a great deal of twists and turns on the last day of school for Aiden, Ethan and Ben as they do their best to avoid a confrontation with the school bully and his thugs.
Mr. Cosmo has a great sense of humor and wonderful insight into the world of bullying that shines through in Soaked. My grand-daughter and I are going to enjoy this last summer before she starts school reading through his numerous other children's books and I can't wait to find out what his writing has in store!
This is a wonderful book that should be on every school library shelf and in each teacher's private collection! Thank you, Mr. Cosmo, for this wonderfully written book about friendship, loyalty and what might be making the school bully tick!
I highly recommend Soaked by A.J. Cosmo and give it five (ice-cold) cups of Room With Books coffee. ;-)

A.J. Cosmo presents a important message that will leave every reader turning the pages to find out how this story ends. Written with a rich dialogue and descriptive characters, he also shows readers in detail how they are feeling. A delightful description of what true friendship is all about.
I highly recommend this book for ages nine and up.
(I received a free kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
Soaked is a story about a boy named Aiden who one day decided to stand-up to one of the biggest bully's in the school (who also happened to be the principal's son), and the consequences and outcomes resulting from his unexpected actions. Anyone old enough to remember the movie "Three O'clock High" will appreciate the similarities of the two underdogs who stood up against the school's bully. Soaked was very entertaining and read much like an episode of Disney's Recess in which I could totally visualize Aiden as the spunky TJ Detwiler coming up with a plan to get himself out of the mess he created for himself by standing up to the bully.
I recommend this book to all kids who think they have to put up with a bully because they don't have any options; this book gives you a very real example of how a bully can be overcome if one simply believes in themselves enough to stand up to the bully. This was an inspiring and entertaining story, and I will definitely read it to my daughter again as a reminder that nobody should accept bullying.
This fun story delivers a needed message about the effects of bullying and the dismaying power that some can achieve by buying the results they want. I was reminded how out of touch I am with things as I read about the leverage achieved by threatening each THIRD GRADE child’s CELL PHONE! The escalating tension and dismaying non-interference by the adults encountered make it difficult to be patient until the end of the story but I daresay this is a great story to read on a hot summer’s day as it makes one want to pick up a water gun, lol. This is an entertaining light read with a great message that is enhanced by the cute illustrations.
