GIY All-Purpose Cleaning Spray

This is the foundation of my housecleaning arsenal. Conventional all-purpose sprays contain excessively aggressive cleaners that are not only unnecessary but also harmful to the user and bystanders.

Fill a spray bottle with the water first. (The order is important here because if you put the water in second, you’ll get an overflow of bubbles. It’s messy.) Add the Pure-Castile Soap or Sal Suds and the tea tree essential oil if desired. Swirl gently to mix. Spray surfaces and wipe with a damp cloth. Alternatively, spray a damp cloth and wipe surfaces. The dampness in the cloth is important because it is this water that the soap will latch on to for rinsing. If you spray and wipe with a dry cloth, you’ll leave soap behind.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart (1 L) water
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) Pure-Castile Liquid Soap OR 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Sal Suds Cleaner
  • 20 drops tea tree essential oil (optional)

I will be delving into it in the coming days but I just had to say that the information contained in this book seems to be very thorough and it is so interesting! I never expected it to be such a hefty book, considering the limited subject matter of natural cleaning solutions, but the author goes into the science and reasoning behind her recipes and it is so helpful. Just an all-around great book for anyone wanting natural solutions to the endless dangerous chemicals they are exposed to every day. I can't wait to dive in and read some more!
