The role of social media in business is both confusing and evolving. It is rare that any business successfully takes advantage of one or two outlets and many, such as mine, often focus on two or three to the exclusion of all others.
It was refreshing to see a social media resource that expanded beyond the usual Facebook/Twitter/YouTube craze and provided succinct tips on how to take advantage of seven different avenues of social media marketing. Although some of the tips seemed repetitive, on the whole this is a good segue into social marketing strategy for those who find the topic to be unfamiliar territory.
The book could use a serious pass through an editor, but you can still take advantage of the information despite the grammatical shortcomings of the text. I found the discussion of Google+ and Instagram helpful and would really like to see the author expand on this work in a second edition. Take a hypothetical company, say XYZ Enterprises, and show how they would augment a web site with social media to enhance their brand and increase market share. Some of the supplied tips impressed me as very generic, so actual application would greatly strengthen the presentation. References to online or published work to support statements in regard to SEO, for example, would also enhance credibility.
Facebook is a good place to start and learn for the other media. I haven't gotten into Twitter yet but the writer gives me the right points to start that. And Google--I knew a little about its power but needed to be reminded. Linkedin--yeah, I've been egging myself to get going with that but haven't yet. Thanks for the boot to my tender rear, Mr. Collins! I've looked often at Pinterest but didn't see myself doing it--now I do. YouTube, though, looks like a good one to appeal to my writer's ideas and weird interpretations of life. I'll see how to use it now.
Overall, worth more than the price and the short read. Got a lot out of it and will often refer to it as a go-starter!
he teaches you step by step when it comes to social media marketing. For those of you who are new to social media, or for those of you
who wants to be a internet marketer, it's a must have book. I highly recommend it! This book covers most of the social media sites
such as Facebook and Twitter, youtube, google +, linkedin and much much more...
