Research made relevant through a storytelling approach.

This renowned text maintains its acclaimed storytelling approach, teaching the science of psychology through an engaging narrative that makes research relevant to students. Drawing upon their extensive experience as researchers and teachers, Elliot Aronson, Tim Wilson, and Robin Akert present the classic research that has driven the field and introduce cutting-edge research that is the future of social psychology. Significantly updated to reflect advances in the discipline, the 8th edition provides a firm foundation for students to build their understanding of this rigorous science in a way that engages and fascinates.

A better teaching and learning experience

This program will provide a better teaching and learning experience— for you and your students. Here’s how:

  • Personalize Learning — The new MyPsychLab delivers proven results in helping students succeed, provides engaging experiences that personalize learning, and comes from a trusted partner with educational expertise and a deep commitment to helping students and instructors achieve their goals.
  • Improve Critical Thinking — The authors emphasize this rigorous science through research examples that encourage students to think twice about their preconceived notions of what social psychology is - and isn’t.
  • Engage Students — Through real-life vignettes, which open each story chapter, and “mini-stories” throughout each chapter, the eighth edition provokes student interest by focusing on real-life examples.
  • Explore Research — The authors present a balance between the latest findings in the field with classic research in social psychology. Noting that some older studies deserve their status as classics and are important cornerstones to the discipline, this text encourages students to experience the continuity and depth of the field versus regarding it as a collection of studies published in the past few years.
  • Support Instructors — This program provides instructors with unbeatable resources, including state-of-the-art PowerPoints embedded with videos, the NEW MyPsychLab with ABC’s What Would You Do videos, an easy to use Instructor’s Manual, a robust test bank, and an online test generator (MyTest). All of these materials may be packaged with the text upon request.

Note: MyPsychLab does not come automatically packaged with this text. To purchase MyPsychLab, please visit www.mypsychlab.com or you can purchase a ValuePack of the text + MyPsychLab (at no additional cost). ValuePack ISBN-10: 020591201X / ValuePack ISBN-13: 9780205912018.

This book is everything you want from a text book. Simple, informal language, a thorough understanding of the subject, clear chapter summaries, and even study questions, with the answers! (Something that's been lacking in recent textbooks).

The hardcover binding is sturdy and sure to last. I think this book is a great resource and worth the read.

This is how a textbook should be written and designed. The content was very engaging and the structure was well-organized. The end-of-chapter tests were particularly helpful in strengthening my recall for the final test. But perhaps more importantly, it inspired me to delve deeper into social psychology.

I bought this textbook looseleaf for about 60 dollars. Unfortunately, the college textbook system is a scam so I can only sell it back for less than half. The book was looseleaf, in a dirty binder. Which is more of a reflection on the seller than on the quality of the book itself. It does a very good job of going over the basics of social psychology- how people behave in groups and how the presence or perceived presence of others affects an individual's behavior. It's a very fascinating concept and easy to grasp even if you aren't someone who likes the psych field or thinks that studying it is pointless. It's very entry level, but presented in a way that makes it interesting. Very thought provoking.

I bought this book used for $17 and was expecting the spine to be ripped or highlighted. Mine looks brand new or appears to be that way! Very happy with my purchase.

Honestly, this is a good book. I used this book for a social psychology class and it served me well.
However, there were a few grammatical errors and some design issues with the justified type(some lines had absolutely no spacing in between the words and some had way too much spacing), there was also content missing from one of the end-chapter summaries. This wouldn't be too bad if this were a $50 book, but, for being almost $200 at the time, I expect no issues like these and proper revisions done on the book. Luckily, I just rented the book

This book provides alot of research-based evidence or experiments to support everything it says or most of what it says

it includes some examples from ABC's "what would you do" show. a very good show you can watch on youtube.

one of the best ones is the one about the bike thief :) seriously look for it.
    I got a highlighted version :)

still, i know this book could have more improvements, like making highlights for us

and giving us a better way of helping us find examples of everything we learn on our own.

I got this book for a college course as well and have got to say that it's rather nice. Most of the information is put into student-friendly format/language, and goes into depth of certain topics in this area of expertise.

I'd definitely recommend it for anyone interested in learning about the social aspect to Psychology.
