I have all of Cialdini's books, and if you can afford it, you will love this one! Dr. Cialdini continues to do a wonderful job of teaching in the area of social psychology, but the benefit of this book is that it is much more complete than his other shorter works, such as, "Influence."
The clarity and interesting examples will keep you reading and reading. Normally one would not find a social psychology text book described as "hard to put down," but this one most assuredly is!
If you are looking for that one great social psychology book, be it for a class, to understand what social psychology is all about, or just to get more of Cialdini's works, then get this book. I would buy it for you if I could (but then you wouldn't appreciate it as much. (he, he, recall "commitment and consistency")

I have a huge problem with books that misrepresent things and people. By page 3 of this book, I was questioning its credibility. When the author claims that Osceola McCarty gave away her life savings to people she never met, he is intentionally lying so he can create the social psychology he wants to sell you. She put $150,000 in a trust for the university but that was only 60% of her life savings. No mention of that though. Of the remaining 40%, she gave 10% to her church and 10% each to her 3 cousins, hardly strangers. Shame on the authors for this.

Book was helpful for my graduate class. I don't know that I loved reading it, but it definitely taught me what I needed to know.

I needed this book for my Social Psychology class where the online version of the tenth edition of this same text was required. It works fairly well. I can't stand reading textbooks online. Most of the material is exactly the same.

This book is very informative and revealing concerning what we think about ourselves and how we think or feel others think of us that affects our behavior. It is easy to read and has a very good outline format. It gives detail examples and major research concerning the subjects. It also lists the definitions for important words and has internet reference sites. In addition, the summary of the book is in outline format. This book has many pluses and I enjoyed using it.

I had to use this book for a Social Psych class at school, and while it was very very clear in descriptions, it was a little bit slow to get through. The stuff to learn about is fascinating, if you have a deep interest for psychology. For anyone teaching a social psych class, I would recommend it as the accompanying text book.
